HP13 x Wraith Test Grow

Firstly, thanks to Manic for allowing me to test seeds for the first time - promise I won't let you down, homey :)

Apologies for the length, but don't want to forget anything and would like to do a good job documenting this to pay Manic back for the honor of testing for him.

Let me start with the unfortunate news, and then it'll be all good (hopefully) from there, I promise.

Manic sent me 5 of the HP13 X Wraith and 5 of the ChemBX3 X Lemon Thai (was super stoked to run that when I learned the BX3 lineage).

The 5 HPXW were in perfect condition, and the BX3XLT looked like someone had taken a fucking hammer to them - FUCKING POSTMAN!!!

So that's the only bad news, now on to the good - germed the five viable seeds on 1.31.11 - four popped within 24 hours, but gave them another day or two to allow the fifth (smallest bean) to pop - it never did (even after planting), so we're working with four plants.

Transplanted on 2.3, they poppped their heads up on 2.7, and the most recent pics are from an hour ago (2.23).

You can see there's one mutant in the group, but the other three are growing vigorously with healthy leaves - temps are 78F, CO2@600PPMs, RH@60% - they're under 3 dual bulb 4' T8 tubes (6 tubes total) for the moment, but I'm gonna transplant and stick them under a 400HPS in a couple of days.

My current run in my new system has needed some tweaks (and therefore had some delays, you can see some of the unhealthy clones in the pics) so I probably won't flower them for another couple of weeks, so best case I might be able to fit at least a couple of these seedlings into my current run (in the place where the 16th column would be in 3 or 5 gallon pots - I'll just move them when I need access to my system - see attached pic, it's about 18" wide and I might put a moveable shelf there to be able to fit all four plants in there, each getting their own 600 watt "level").

First pic is the masacred BX3 seeds; the rest are pretty self-explanatory, but if anyone has any questions/comments/criticisms, please don't hesitate.

Shit, just realized that I didn't take pics with the plant's number showing; I'll fix that next time, sorry guys - still getting the hang of this whole testing thing :)

Sup Bobby! Looking good despite the postman's hammer... I had similar issues and couldn't get any of mine to properly germinate... I'm down to one bean and I'm gonna spend a serious amount of time to carefully attempt to germinate it... :itwasntme

Thanks bro; was really weird, because the beans were (basically) in the same packaging, just an inch away from each other - five were perfect, and that first pic doesn't even do justice to how mauled the other five were - they were almost dust.

Ugh, it hurts just to type this because the beans were mauled and I can't run them, but evidently the BX3 is a Chem pheno that was much more indica-leaning than "normal" but still had all the great Chem qualities.

Also, actually have a seedling in the octagon and am gonna flower her out to get a nice little early test of the smoke :)

hey Shady and Co.......I don't want to talk badly about Green Lantern b/c I have no experience growing their genes. But I have definitely heard from a number of my friends that their recent stuff has had major germ. issues, aside from the fact that the post man managed to crush lots of them, too. From what i know most of them were testers, so I'm not gonna pass judgment on this issue. I think it happens to every breeder now and then. Just passing along the info, I guess that's why we test these things. -DrD.

Seeds

I bought their willy D and grew them, had some problems and ink and manic couldn't be more helpful. They gave me a choice of about 10 different seeds to pick 2 different kinds and a couple weeks later I've got my new seeds. I think that they are sending out these testers to keep this from happening, you never know what you will get crossing two new plants, and by using the testers they get to try them out(by the public) before releasing them to the public. Thanks for your work/effort to better our cherished plant, and for standing behind your seeds

Here's the latest pics; since there were some delays with my flowering setup I decided to throw a couple of these ladies in there to see what they can do - they're roughly 6" tall right now, so hopefully in about two weeks (when I flip) they'll be 12" (if not larger).

The two still in cups I'm unsure as to what to do with; might put them into my flowering rig, or may build a 5 gallon DWC bucket for them to share this round; or, may just grow them out and take clones for next run.

Any questions or anything like that; lemme know - forgot to take a pic of the soil I'm using, but I'm certainly not happy with it - must be really hot or something because there have been problems with it from the start - the two plants still in cups are dying to get outta dirt and into some hydro where I actually know what I'm doing :)
