That is a beautiful dog in the pic with the butterfly, as is that butterfly!!!
And of course I look forward to another season of lurking and admiring your awe inspiring grows...and look forward to trying some of your genetics when they hit down @ FHWC...when again do you expect to drop those beans off????I am an eager beaver to try something new in the gardens, even if late in this season!!

lovin those stems! so thick and still all soft growth. i'm pretty interested in your mass-scale scrogs. is pm or ventilation ever an issue with those? these are all already huge, will be awesome to watch this thread till november.

Looks like quite the operation you've got going! I'll be sitting here, plugged in...can't wait for harvest time. Someday I hope to be in Sohum...or maybe Trinity or Shasta or Mendo, God knows...

How many drip emitters do you have for each plant? I notice some have multiple lines and some are just looped around the plant.

We will be making a lot of seed this fall and doing test grows with them before we release anything. We might need some testers too. Anyone interested?

Mold is an issue. I have good ventilation in the GH's and I run extra fans in there in the fall.

The 300 gallon smart pots will have about 20 1gph emitters spiraled around them. The 200 gallons 15 1gph. The trenches will have 4 lines of 1gph emitter tubing but they are actually 18" spacing emitters. The spiraled ones are 12" spacing. Sorry if that was confusing. I will be doing some posts on our water system soon. We are busy putting in another 18 300 gallon smart pot garden.

They are called Texas Tomato Cages. Your local grow store should be able to find them. They are great support if you get them on early.
Should have another picture update soon. It has been raining here for a couple days but the girls are happy as can be in their hoops.:blush

If you trust me to test I am able and willing....I have several test sites awaiting new genetics...anytime, can also setup light dep, greenhouse, and full sun tests, as well as a few indoor samplings as well, although I will assume most will be of the outdoor variety, no?Nonetheless we shall try anyways......feel free to pm me and let me know, sure would be cool to test some out for you!!

Sad and upsetting update on the Clean Green Certification program. After much research among me and my associates in the MMJ community we discovered that the program is actually owned/controlled by one of the large mega collectives/corporations from Oakland(the one by the Side of the Harbor). We feel this puts the whole program in question. I was getting a little suspicious by how lax the standards were and how little oversight there actually is. Seams to me that anyone could BS there way into being certified and no one would be any the wiser. I would question any farm or collective that has this certification and take it with a grain of salt. It appears to be just another way for the large collectives to tack on a few more bucks to your 1/8th all the while making you think your meds are safer to consume. There is no independent third party testing of the meds which I think is necessary. In doing this research we also found out that the lab in the bay(the one on a Steep Hill) is also in the pocket of the same large mega collective. It is well know in the MMJ community that their testing procedures have been in question since the beginning and if you are in their pocket you can have any results you pay for. Big business is taking over every aspect of this industry and it is making me sick. I am feeling quite disillusioned right now after learning all of this. But really this should just motivate us all to not lose our rights to these guys. We need to take back control of our industry. We the farmers need to form our own certification groups with higher standards and better oversight and testing. Lets put our heads together and see what we can come up with.

Man this sucks to hear...i def agree on all your points. Im def interested in forming some type of growers collective...not to dispense but more like a union, to keep our practices fair and get paid fairly for our hard work. You should post your thoughts in the "humbolts pot perch" thread.

I had done some homework awhile back on the different certs/inspections/permits and the like for a small fruit/veggie/flower farm we are going to be running....and the organic certs were expensive but also unorgnized and seemed you had to be a large scale op to achieve organic status...poiny being small farmers started their own organic certification program, and the farmers themselves were choosen to evaluate and check on specific other farmers op's to make sure the guidelines set forth were being adhered to...so could say a group of growers organize somehow, implement a general guideline, vote on a set panel to review and uphold the set guidelines, and then each year vote in a new set of growers....just a quick thought by no meansd i aat any caliber to make any calls , you guys and gals are the true growers....I just like growing and seeing the fruits of my labor, labor I am thrilled to do!!
Also maybe several experts could be organized and formed into a new company that can come and visit potential organic & clean growers to evaluate and determine status, both on inital application and quarterly inspections or something similar??I have an active imagination and anything to keep the crap weed away....I mean I take my time, and even I admit I have screwed up, grown a crappy batch, and have learned as well, and I never will stop learning , but I know I cant stand the crap that floods the markets and even gets into clubs jars...why????
Enough ranting sorry folks, I'm just a dork!!!!!

Dorkvan, you have got the right idea. That is exactly what we need to do.
So I talked to Chris Van Hook for about an hour after I posted the above. I wanted to get as much info as possible. He is a very nice guy and he is trying to do a good thing with good intentions. I expressed to him that I didn't think there was enough oversight and that anyone could scam the system and get certified. He agreed and said that this is really a starting point and that the system does need improvement. These are very much the same standards and practices that the USDA follows and he admitted that that is also very flawed. I expressed concern that without a good independent lab to do testing there is no way to tell if producers are playing by the rules. He agreed and said that the lab in the bay was not doing a good job and they also hoped to have a lab soon that could verify what people claim they are using as inputs on the medicine. He denied that the Oakland collective was behind his work but did say that they were his biggest customers and basically put food on his table. He did agree with me that they are taking the industry in the wrong direction and he said he doesn't believe in the way they are trying to be the Wal-mart of weed. Seamed like a very down to earth guy but I definitely felt like he was trying to sell me and my collective his services. I told him my thoughts on forming a local organization to certify crops here and asked if I could pick his brain as we go and he said he was happy to help. Like I said, very nice guy but I don't think that at this time I would give too much credibility to their certification. Maybe once a credible lab that isn't in someones pocket starts doing independent third party analysis. He was really trying to sell me on the marketability of have a clean green certified product but if I don't believe in the process I don't think I can stand behind it knowing others are not following the rules. I also think some of their standards are way to low which mimic the USDA standards which are also terrible. The bottom line is almost anyone could apply for this and by lying could easily get the certification. I asked him how an indoor hydro grower can get certified. He said he has certified some and they use fish emulsion, kelp , EWC, and some other things but the way he was describing it just sounded like he had been BS'd. He also said they have certified several hydro indoors like that but he hasn't inspected any of them. It sounded exactly like how some one would lie to get the certification for their indoor. Think giant Oakland collective. I don't think there is any way a hydro indoor should be certified organic and fit for medical patients. Some people might not like hearing that but it is my opinion. I will just have to try to find people that want to work on this with me and make some higher standards for our patients. PM me if you are interested or just chime in here.

Sorry if I harshed out on all hydro growers back there. I used to grow hydro but I never had any illusions about what I was growing or tried to pass it off as something I knew it wasn't. I am sure there are some more natural ways to grow hydro and you sure don't need to use pesticides and chemical fungicides if you have the right education and make the effort. I want to focus on making some standards for outdoor to begin with and then go from there. Here in Humboldt there is a huge anti indoor movement. There is a group called Put Em In The Sun. We have a had a lot of problems with diesel spills and many other problems associated with large indoors. I think a lot of people here would oppose allowing any indoor production to pass local standards.

I have no problem with indoor grown, but am not interested in hydroponics, despite any growth and weight gains associated with its uses, I am solely soil, and prefer organic line of nutes....but I am going to consider going as little nute applicating as possible, using properly fertilized soil to go the full bloom with only nute added if plants show deficiency.
not all that practical, not all that business viable compared to a commercial op, but again I am only striving for quality not quantity, and believe good farming practices apply even in our industry, something that has obviously been lost.
I believe it takes more than just a fat wallet and the top nute lines propaganda to grow stellar cannabis,more like hard work, good genetics, and a good knowledge base.
All I do really know is that be it indoor or outdoor, alot of the product out there is just not good for us, and it is only getting worse.Some type of organizations set up to help preserve true dirtfarming practices and quality control are needed for both the indoor and outdoor grow operations, something I would love to help establish and spew out suggestins for, as well as participate.
Now, I dont just do indoor(again not commercial, just damn good on a smaller scale), I also LOOOOOVE outdoor, and will be a small scale grow as well, all organic of course.
I also am very interested in perfecting my skills in greenhouses with some light dep schooling as well.
By the way contacted the girls @ 707 and hope to get that schedule and some more info soon...may have to bring the van to crash in on the weekends as it would be way too far to commute 4 hours each way, any ideas of a good side street I wont be hassled may be at, or I can guard those ladies for ya :):):) (just kidding I know your covered in all aspects of your op)???

Anyways I am all for helping anyway I can just let me know HL.....I strongly believe something needs to be done to keep things in some kind of control, its not like anyone really needs to follow along with a program , but as a patient I would go to someone who cared about the product and me , and took the time & labor needed to produce a pure top quality product within set standards, and took the time to show their dedication by being certified, that would be my choice!!!Nothing nastier than getting ahold of some dank herb that was labeled organic, and when you smoke it , all you taste is the last nasty chemicals that were drowning the plants probably as they were being chopped down, who needs it flushed, they dont give a shit!!!!!
Time to get back to simple organic pure from the earth farming practices!!!

In my opinion it doesnt have to be organic to be clean. I would support both 100% organic outdoor grows as well as lab quality indoor grows with food grade salts and no pesticides and harsh chemicals.
After all the plant will be using ions in the same fashion from both salt and organic nutes.

One thing i dont suppost is outdoor chemical grows, chems should never be allowed to enter our ecosystem, keep it inside, as with fuel and other toxic shit.

Big money plans to invade Marijuna Country

I read this this morning and got really pissed. Medical Marijuana Inc has big plans to invade the Emerald Triangle and surrounding counties to really capitalize on Marijuana Tourism. Maybe that sounds like fun to people that aren't from around here but it is really going to take away a lot of opportunity from the locals who make this place what it is. I feel that the people here who created this industry are going to be left in the dust for the most part. I am sure Oaksterdam and Harborside will be next to follow. There is just too much money at stake and that is what these guys are all about.
