I was using Great White to prevent root rot and give microbes. Then I read an article saying synthetic nutrients nulls great white…so I then added hydro guard. Is that ok?

Hydroguard is Bacillus Amyloliquifaciens., a bacterium also found in Great White, so it won't hurt.

Cancel? No that's not how things work. In organics, bacteria convert organic compounds into inorganic compounds. Plants can only take up inorganic compounds. "Synthetics" are inorganic compounds. The same thing that bacteria are busy making in organic growing. One is made by organisms (humans) above ground, the other by organisms (bacteria) below ground, i.e., in soil. So if inorganics killed off microbes then soil bacteria are all committing suicide. Sound absurd?

If you are doing hydro, then Great White is of little, if any, benefit. Also if your main concern is simply potential root rot then Hydroguard is the better option.

Would you suggest something like Orca or King Crab (both from plant revolution just a Great White)? Or is it better to use something else in hydro? Asking this because I just started my first hydro grow.

A product like hydro guard is primarily for those using synthetic nutrients. It breaks down dead organic material. Trcyhoderma grows into the roots, eats dead organic material, digests it into a form the plants can use, then poops it into the root.
Trcyhoderma is for soil, HydoGuard is for Hydro.

Those are unnecessary in a synthetic hydro grow IMO. If you keep everything squeaky clean and sterile you shouldn't need anything. Hydroguard and Bt wouldn't hurt if you prefer some preventative measures.
