What a difference a day makes!

Since my back up plants under the 8 bulb HOT5 decided to blow up (in a good way) over the last couple days + the 2 plants in my DIY Mini Me F & D are also exploding, the side wall was getting overcrowded.

I needed to add another bubble tote, which I had to place sideways (forming an L). To do this I needed 2 more 4" air stone discs. I also wanted to check out NPK Industries dry nutrients to use during flower, so I made a trip to my local hydro store. The owner was there (he and I have had a few discussions over the years) along with SunLite rep, and fortuitously, the president of Emerald Harvest, a nute company I had not heard of

After a 20 minute conversation with him about dry vs liquid and the importance of using 'live' water to mix, I left with Cali Bloom A & B, and will be gifted their bloom and rooting additives.

This morning I replaced the nutes from my 2 other tents with Cali Bloom as all 3 plants are blooming. Also I rigged up the other tote and moved a couple plants into it, and, I also defoled most of the biggest primary leafs.

I suggest you check out their site to see why I am so excited

I have 2 pounds of HR V+B which I will use for vegging, but not anymore for flowering

Check out my T5 LED Grow Thread
I don't mean to come off as a dick, but as the thread states the topic here is Hydroponic Research.......Not NPK Industries....or Emerald Harvest.

I'm sorry you think it's a bad line for flowering......but when I get flowers like this......I think the opposite.

@Onetwothree , i feed, feed, tea, and repeat with no problems. This line will not hurt your beenies. Its a blend of synthetics and organics.

Thanks man...so when I get rocking with the V+B, should I be keeping an eye on my ppms before feeding, or just slowly build up to the suggested 5grams/gallon?

Last round i maxed out at 4 grams per gallon. Ph always comes out at 6.2-6.4 using RO water. After week three i use plus size at 1 gram per gallon and v and b at 3 grams per gallon.

That's where I'm at in peat as well RB. I think hydro can stand a bit higher. IME 1.2-1.4 as a peak has been fine for flower.
For me it works out like..1 tbsp/5 gallon is around 1-1.2 EC..so early veg is 1/2 tbsp/5gal..late veg is 1 tbsp/5gal..peak flower is a heaping tbsp/5gal. +Size is a light tsp/5gal..+Life is a heaping tsp/5gal once per week.

Great looking, but honestly, no better than I have done using V+B through to harvest for several years.

My issue is how much better will our girls be when fed the right diet?

It's common knowledge by those who understand the need for different salt requirements during flower.

Therefore, "I" have serious doubts that we're reaching our girls full potential unless we use a specific bloom nutrient.

Sorry, I thought that would be important to anyone using any nutrient

I'm done here, but anyone is welcome to come by my thread (Hail Hydro) and watch

Peace out

Chris offers tissue analysis so that you can create a custom blend for mono-cropping. Otherwise I'd say good luck finding "THE RIGHT DIET". Each plant out there has specific needs as far as nutrition and environment goes.

I've used a few different nutrient lines, the last one I used was Heavy 16, and I gotta say as far as reaching potentials....simplicity....and cost.....HR beats everything else I have used.

As I stated earlier.....I'm NOT trying to come across as a dick, just trying to keep the thread inline with it's intended purpose. A place for HR users to come and chat about their experiences with the products. I've known about NPK Industries and Emerald Harvest for a while now. This thread is NOT about those nutrient lines.....it's about HR products. I was just doing my best to keep things on topic in here.

No worries. Again, the science is clear that cannabis' nutrient requirements change between veg and flower, with N being a huge component. So, no matter what they offer for bloom to go along with V + B, there is way too much N.

Instead of Shine, etc, why not make 2 separate products? That's a rhetorical question.

Come by my Hail Hydro thread and let's see what happens

I'm out

Adding Shine greatly tweaks the N ratio. Plenty of people run Lucus formula all the way through. I think VandB is better at growing flowers than vegging but whatever. It works, it pushes resin, it stacks great, it's cheap and it's simple.

Thanks,

So while V +B would appear to be used throughout (and I have before getting +Size (replaced with Shine and Push), which has some Sulfur along with PK 11/11 WTF?

Since sulfur is a bloom booster, shouldn't V +B have a lot less sulfur for vegging, AND, how do we overcome the increased N as we ramp up ppms for flowering?
they say to use +size for foliar in veg. i was wondering if u have tried that?

i agree bro! its the best flower food i have ever used though and will always use it. for veg i have found that using maxi gro and a couple additives and V+B dirty for flower gave me far superior results then using V+B all the way.
if +size is added it makes the ratio of flower 1-2-3(npk). from my research i thought 1-1-1 or 1-3-2 was best for flower? i personally dont beleive that bc i have seen great results from others will all kinds of different ratios. hell i have seen awesome results from pics people has posted just using Oscomote plus. i just try to make sure i keep my plants nice and green so that i know all the nutrient requirements have been met.

Funny.....after a running V+B solid for about 2 years now.....I've NEVER seen a N toxicity.

The ONLY time I had an issue was when I was still down in LA and my tap water went from 7.2 to 9.6, which I can't really point the finger at V+B on that. In fact, Chris spent so much time helping me when I had that issue...he made a customer for LIFE!

Coco.....no runoff.....fed V+B HD

That's impressive. Did you have to flush at all? Or just bump up the ec until you got some tip burn and roll it back and keep it there. No runoff gives me the heebie-jeebies, but I've seen many have success with it.

I actually don't push things to tip burn like I used to. I just run a lower ec than I would if I were watering to runoff. I also give them a day with just tea and Heavy 16 Finish.

For a while I was feeding for three days, then giving them water and finish, then feeding for two days and then water, tea, and finish, but this last run I simplified things a bit and just did the math to figure out what they would need for 6 days. The results were pretty astonishing and I'm sold on the idea of using less water. I think one of the biggest tricks to it is watering a few times a day to make sure nothing dries out.

I maxed out at 4.16 grams per gallon on the HD and 1.6 grams per gallon on Size.

Gonna be switching over to Chow beds here pretty soon and think I am going to continue with the not watering to runoff.

Oh, and I don't really flush, just ramp things down. I was just up in the room and looking at things with my Method 7's on. A week to go and the big fans are starting to yellow out a bit.....just like I like em to.

CelticEBE, note the information in italics. I have experienced this and scratched my head why, until now

FYI RE: Nitrogen

'However, a plant’s tendency to store nutrients increases during the bloom phase. All through flower production, the focus is on building up stores of energy and nutrition for seeds. Thus, too high a dose of nitrogen in densely packed floral tissues leads to predispose blooms to botrytis and thus prone to attack by insects and pest. Also, excessively high nitrogen levels delay maturation by weeks and reduces accumulation of sugar, dipping aroma and flavor. So, keep a check on the concentration of nitrogen through proper measurement and analysis and adjust the levels accordingly for better yields and harvests'.

Never had a problem with high nitrogen with the HD formula. Add ing + size decreases the N in flower. My finish times are the same also. Flavors and smell are great.

So....you have had budrot issues......and instead of dialing in the environment......you are blaming the V+B? You grow in a tent correct?

I'd think if N was an issue, there would be a LOT more people saying something than just you. Jump on instagram and take a look at some of the commercial spots using V+B with no budrot issues. :-)
