So long story short, I'm in week 6 or 7 of flower, inground and very healthy. I could not stand the inner branches that get no light and sucking the energy away from my upper colas and bud sites. I moderately pruned the suckers on all of my girls. I get mixed opinions on if it will hurt them or not. Can anybody let me know if I preformed a cannabis sin or should I be ok. I didn't take a lot of except for 1 and I was on borderline heavy prune. This year is the first time I am able to grow on my property legally and give my girls the proper attention without legal repercussions. Gorilla growing in a not legal state, preventing me from pruning and giving attention to my plants the way I was supposed to. So I'm kind of still learning. I know what I'm doing but at the same time I'm still somewhat learning. Just want to get you guys opinion.

Pictures? I'm not sure if it's a mistake. There's good reasons to do it. Also good reasons not to. It really all depends on what you got going growth-wise with the plant in question and so on. I'm against bonzai style trimming but trimming with a purpose like improving air flow or light or removing what would otherwise be larfy bud ... yeah I do that all the time.

I prune them just not as aggressively as indoor. Focus on the main buds and then pray they make it thru the the cold damp nights ahead.

I wouldn't say it was not bonsai style but you know on the inner branches close to the main stock. You got a bunch in my little larf buds that pop up everywhere and then you have like some small, thin stems that grow really long and stretch really long and they're like lanky kind of flopping over all over the place and they're not ever going to really mature or produce much. Those are the ones I'm talking about. I took off. One of my plants I would honestly say I probably went a little bit overboard with the inner nodes but that's all I took and like one or two lower branched out. Was like not getting enough sunlight and wasn't going to produce much. I know it's probably all over the place is kind of hard for me to explain. Let me put it to you like this. I don't like wasting anything. So all the inner branches that I took out I went ahead and just trim them up and hung them up to dry and I could probably use some of it in my edibles stuff. I did look at the trackhomes on they were milky so I'm assuming they do have some THC in them. So I'm just going to add that into my edible trim and bud. But once it's all said and done, I'll probably yield probably close to. I want to say 3 oz max from that one plant that I went heavy on but it's all little popcorn. Nugs larvae crap stuff that was never going to make it to the top or get enough sun and just suck away all the energy.

Sorry, autocorrect sucks with my phone.

I remove a little at a time. I'm more aggressive with that pre flower and early flower of course but it never completely stops. If you're close to finishing and afraid of PM problems, you can remove more fan leaves too for better airflow too. Just keep in mind that the leaves are your solar panels that drives the plant so don't take too many. Just enough to open it up and allow it to breathe.

See I've been doing that though. I go out here about every day and I look for the families that are covering up the other bud sites preventing sunlight getting through and of course I just pick off the over abundance of leaves because I do know how important airflow is. I just wasn't that aggressive with removing all the larf. I'm still somewhat learning. Since I originally come from a not legal state. The only thing I could do is once my plants got big enough I went out into the woods. I put them in the ground or put them in a bucket and top of trees or wherever I decide to put them and I would leave them alone and only check up on them maybe once or twice through the whole season. So I never really had a chance to do full-on defoliation things like that. I was able to take some leaves off and take care of certain branches that weren't doing good, but ultimately this is the first time I've actually been able to give all my attention and love to my girls since I'm finally in a legal state. So I'm bound to make a couple mistakes here and there kind of relearning a whole slew of techniques and the true proper way to take care of my girls. It's just this is a very large quantity I got here and I don't want to lose no more than absolutely have to. Already plan on some Bud rot I already plan on some insect damage. I just don't want to make major mistakes where it will jeopardize my entire crop.

There's a learning curve of a sort, I get it. However from the sounds of things you already have a good idea but need confirmation. If you're dealing with trying to halt PM or Bud Rot, rules change and sometimes you have to get aggressive or you lose whole plants and sometimes whole crops to mother nature. Once you're able to, take some pictures of what's going on. We'll sort out where to go from there.

Are you able to set up indoors for future runs? In many ways, its a lot easier. The right equipment with a small grow won't raise utility costs that much.

I have a 5x5 tent. I put my monster crop clones in the tent. I plan on building a grow room in my basement this winter. I plan on also looking into starting out with a 10x20 greenhouse for next year. But yes I can grow indoors. I just can't grow trees indoors. That's why I wanted to get a greenhouse cuz I want to grow large plants through the winter. But keep fresh veggies on the table as well. I'll try to take some pictures before it gets too dark. If not, I'll try to upload some tomorrow. When I look at to getting a greenhouse I'm probably going to go with the Amazon greenhouse at first and I noticed you have a greenhouse set up so maybe by next spring I might have one and I could definitely use some pointers cuz I've never grown anything inside of a greenhouse before.

Sure, sounds like a plan.

Edit: Greenhouses come with their own issues. I'm not sure its easier. There are plenty of challenges and although I would say I have some experience, I wouldn't call myself an expert by any means.

If that is Future 1, the buds by genetics tend to be small and heavy. Budding all the way down the stem, yet never closing in. While smaller buds, they sure have some weight on them after the ripening process.

Yes, that is the future#1 by anesia. It's definitely growing like a sativa. They are pretty small buds and they are pretty far apart on the bud sites. They definitely have like a lemon or citrusy kind of smell. so far that future number one has impressed me. And yes the buds go all the way to the main stalk.

Don’t feel down about growing outside even if your first try. Stay positive and think positively and research as much as you can on your free time because there’s always something changing outside day to day. Mostly the plant will change slowly and at times for the worst but they always tell us what they are experiencing by the way the leaves look and the colors we see in them at the right time in its life cycle. Calculating the life time of the plant will help dearly in decisions made in the future and diagnosing symptoms. Where I live in NY on top of a mountain in the forest surrounded by trees that are shedding leaves year after year and causing leaf litter in the woods decomposing with earth dirt and soil plus water moistures, I know is a natural way of life but there are also spores of fungi good and bad flying in the winds around the plants I grow will inevitably land onto the girls leaves and buds along with insects carrying diseases and other shit. But I still grow outdoors trying to avoid things when I know that I could be embracing them all understanding their response and actions. I’ve had botrytis last year and pm this year but probably will find myself tangoing botrytis again but I am trying something new this year for the fungal pathogens copper and a higher ph level on the leaf surfaces will make a hostile environment for spores to germinate on. Also a 20%80% milk water mix to try out if need be. I am approaching week 4 1/2 into flower phase myself here with 7 different strains 16 plants total and just discovered pink pistils on one of my girls today. I feel like I must keep in mind that there are external forces with me and working against me to protect and serve these ladies throughout their life in harmony. I have used light defoliation technics which are really stressors for the plant at any given time but little by little leaves and bogus branches will eventually come off to make room for air and or light from the giant nuclear ball in space that brings photons and life to earth. Your doing good I presume and if you can please post up some photos of your grow to show how things are looking. According to your photo of the ones you hung up to dry they look fresh and clean with good form. Take care brother.

That looks more like a partial harvest! But she will live! Won’t even blink.

I misunderstood what he was asking earlier and it just dawned on me what he meant. I thought he was talking about fan leaves mainly with few twigs. I understand now. lol

@Southernuncle21 the plant won't miss that.

It would miss removal of all green leaving only buds which is what I thought you were trying to tell me. Earlier when I read it, there wasn't a picture attached or it didn't open up giving me the wrong idea of what you were saying.

No problems. I have trouble trying to explain some of these things. I defoliate the green leaves as they continue to grow and cover up bud sites. It was just time for me to get all that mess on the inside of the plant taking care of because if you look at some of the bud structure of everything they were doing good and now they're kind of. I don't know how to explain this. I could just tell their now kind of getting robbed of energy and all that energy is going to the inner twigs that's growing bud so I feel like I needed to remove them so all that energy could go back into the colas and the top buds. I just didn't want to stress my plants out where they'll hermie or stunt the bud growth.

Back to your greenhouse idea ... a hoop house like mine would not do well for year around cannabis production. Not in Michigan. There's ways to do it but not with a structure like mine. There are cold weather crops that can be grown which would extend how long you use it. This doesn't mean a greenhouse won't provide you benefits because it would. It's just a better idea to have a realistic outlook on a greenhouse structure's growing potential because they are not all the same.

P.S. I looked at your pictures. If that is since the trim I wouldn't worry at all. In fact, its more like ... you did a really good job. Plants look good, healthy.
