Some ozone is OK, but high levels for an extended time can harm your lungs, even your plants. If your unit is rated for more square feet, than your using it in, put it on a timer. I used to run a small one rated for 500 square feet, in a 200 square foot room. I'd have it cycle on for 15 minutes, then off for 45 minutes. It still knocked down the smell good enough, without bothering my nose.
