I'm used to running Roots Excelurator (RE) in Veg and really loved the results. GH 3-part nutrients.

I'm not using RE anymore now that I've switched from running bennies to using UC Roots.

I much prefer the UC Roots to running bennies for a million and one reasons, but I noticed my plants take at least 2 weeks longer to build the same root structure in Veg without the RE.

Can I use IBA to solve this issue? I understand, maybe incorrectly, that it's readily available at Home Despot as Miracle Grow Fastroot in 1% formula - how do I dissolve it into a liquid for application?

Further, how many mL per gallon do I use in the system? I veg in RDWC 5 gal buckets and then fransfer those to 13 Gal UC modules.

Thanks for any insight you may be able to provide!

Happy Harvests!

Great question! I myself am trying to find solid info about application rates of IBA in the mighty UC.
Here's what I have found so far..

http://mbferts.com 99% IBA (not water soluble - they recommend potassium hydroxide) This site also has a gram/gallon (and litre) application chart of sorts.

http://www.plantsandstuff.com These cats have water soluble IBA and are on Ebay. They also recommend a 2:1 application of IBA with NAA.

https://www.thcfarmer.com/community/threads/rooting-with-iba.39138/ Quantum9/DSs brief discussion on IBA use in the UC.

BTW The shit you buy at home depot etc., does not appear to be water soluble.. so you would have to dissolve in ethanol (everclear) or polysorbate 20 before application. Not to mention that 99% of what's in the bottle of that shit is inert filler.

Love always,

Right - so how do we find a liquid IBA solution that can replace Roots Excelurator when running sterile with UC Roots?

One that was ready-made would sure save time and mess! Maybe that's Dip-n-Gro? MSDS says its IBA with ethyl alcohol and isopropyl alcohol but it doesn't provide a % of IBA...

Also would like to be able to use IBA in the EZ Cloner 120.

Dip n grow is 1%(10,000 ppms) IBA and .5% NAA. If I calculated correctly off the figures in DS's thread, .15-.3 ml/gallon is the correct application rate. Ran .25-.3 ml/gallon with good results. Hope this helps.

How about this...
Rhizopon® AA Water Soluble Tablets (IBA)

Rhizopon® AA Water Soluble Tablets (IBA)

Plant growth regulator/rooting hormone containing 20% IBA in tablet form for rooting cuttings and for improving transplanting, plant growth and root mass. Tablets are water-soluble up to the rate of 10 tablets per liter (33.8 fl oz.) of water. When more than 10 tablets per liter are used, dissolve them in a 50:50 dilution of ether and alcohol (methyl, isopropyl or ethyl) and add water to make 1 liter. http://www.hummert.com/ProductDetail.aspx?Page=ProductSearchList.aspx&ID=8162&Text=IBA

I bought all the pgrs from there but have only tried to mix the iba, naa and iaa two times. I used the koh solution off the site. The first time didn't dissolve properly, probably my fault, and the second one dissolved properly but I didn't measure the pgrs before I dissolved them so I fed at way to high a rate, like 150 ppm combined, and.the plants yellowed up pretty good but didnt die or anything.
shelved the experiment w that stuff for now. Will try again in the future for sure. def wanna try triancontanol soon.

Yeah, I should have bought the water soluble IBA and NAA from Plants&Stuff... but I found the mbferts stuff first. So now I have a ton of IBA, NAA, BP6, Triancontanol, and koh to ruin my plants with. I dissolved some IBA in ethanol (everclear) and it seemed to work really well... so I might not use the koh at all. I read on the other thread that .8ppms of IBA "blows roots up"... so.. uhh.. yeah, 150ppm must totally send them into a black hole or something. I'm shootin' for 1ppm at .00378g/gallon of IBA and half that for NAA. Gonna try to dissolve the tria in ethanol next.

I haven't used the tablets yet. I just ran across those after reading about the use of iba from DS thread. No matter how many times he was asked no answer was given to application rates or what iba product he used. When looking into water soluble iba that was the best thing I could find. I have been thinking about giving it a shot in the bubble tray and veg setups.
