If your useing fresh manure make a tea with it. Let it age in a couple piles add straw and kitchen scrapes. I have a few chickens in my backyard during the winter i will let them run free in my garden to work the soil. When i grow outdoors I want to grow in what nature has provided me with. You can back dig your space and add the manure work the soil all winter and next spring you will have a great spot. it's all about the organic nutrient levels. I'm slowly learning more about it. I use my veggie garden and my hoophouse grow to teach me every year.
