I mean not that these don't have there uses, but the whole idea about lst is that it's easy and doesn't require new stuff.

They are called low stress training clips and are all over Etsy, amazon, and thingverse if you have a 3D printer and can print your own. I found a guy locally on kijiji or Craigslist with a 3D printer and got him to make me a bunch.

Long story short. I don’t like them. They broke, were expensive (I needed 200) and generally just a headache. I won’t use them again. A screen truly is the way to go.

they might be handy for young plants but for mine a week in flower the branches got too thick and snapped a lot of the clips and the plant ended up growing upwards anyways. It just made the branches wavy

Or... how about some string??? yall are spoiled these days. I still tie plants down. In fabric pots and don't want to punch holes? get some butterfly clips.

Benefits of string: versatile, cheap, customizable. I'll sell you a roll of High Grade LST string with a 150% markup on what I pay if it'll make you feel better because of labelling it "LST String".

Seriously, go buy some hemp twine, and learn to tie a square knot.

I use pipe cleaners as tie downs, they are perfect and something I already have which is kind of the name of the game here.

I’ve used them.

orange were 60 cents each. $60 for 100
Black was 20 cents each. $40 for 200.

I left them on for 3 weeks and all the blacks broke and about 1/3 of the orange ones. Total waste of money and not too happy with them.

Once the branch goes woody you should be able to remove them without branch moving...

yup. Learned that the hard way.

Another complaint: leave them on too long and they break. Take them off too early and the branch loses shape.

I put some on again last night. The branches looked fine and dandy for about 6 hours. The stems have now pointed straight up right after the clip anyways so it basically did nothing.

maybe if I put it near the tip it would help but I can’t as the node spacing is every 5 mm and the clip needs about 15mm of uninterrupted stem.

so yeah. I don’t like em. Maybe they’re good for when the plant is super young to get it manifolded and trained nicely but for mid or old plants they can’t keep up.

Yep thats it..you hit the nail on the head in your last paragraph.ive never used those and just string.once removed sometimes the plant branch will spring up abit so and ive just kept them tied down .
I have tied plants down near the tip and they are that strong can snap the tip off the branch as they turn up to the light.ive only had that happen a couple times.this was using fencing guage wire to peg branch down outside..

I ended up using these with good success during veg.

They are long enough so they don't get pulled up as the plant grows.

Ended up with a nice dense low plant.
