I couldnt find much information on a good 1 HP pump for my irrigation (to sit in a 55gallon reservoir) so i ended up grabbing a Wayne 1HP sump pump. I came and has a little residual grease on the inside. If i clean it out will it be safe to use to water my plants??

Ok yea and no.
1. The oils in the impellers are hard to remove and any oils leftover will mess your grow up.
2. You can get a sump pump that is sealed bearing or cartridge type, they have no oil or grease in them.
3. Cleaning, good ol dish soap, circulating that for an hour or so, back and forth.
Dump solution and run clean water, 3-4 rinse cycles , approx 1hr.
Dump and fill will water and peroxide, run for an hour.
Dump and rinse with water after.
Fill and ready your system as normal.

But it’s better to get a proper pump and in a pinch a sump pump maybe used but bro, if u see a oil slick chances are your grow will be messed up.
