Hello! I currently have 3 Mimosa Evo and 1 LSD plant hanging up in my dry room. The drying conditions are as follows : humidity around 50-55%, 66-69 degrees, , 2 fans on low facing the wall, completely dark room. I’m on day 5 of my dry and my buds feel pretty feel crispy. Since this is my first real dry , is the crispiness normal at this stage? I’ve also noticed a slight “hay smell” during the first few days as well. However, if i give the buds a slight pinch, that beautiful dank smell comes back strong. Everything went great during the grow and I don’t want to screw this part up. I’ve read so many conflicting things it’s hard to know what’s right or wrong. For example , I just watched a video saying the 60/60 rule is wrong and growers should go with 70-72 degrees and 40-45% humidity, and that’s just one example. I also read that below 50% humidity the terpenes and trichomes will “dry out”. Honestly , that’s a scary thought. Any help would be greatly appreciated! I don’t want to end up with an inferior product!

Keep your temperature around 60 degrees and humidity around 60% these conditions will give you a very good dry. The leaves will get crispy as you've noticed but your buds will still have moisture in them. When you bend your stems and hear that snap the buds are dry hope this helps you out.

5 days in those conditions and getting crispy probably needs to move into jars at this point. If you feel like it's just a superficial dry and the middle is still too wet for curing/mold risk you could go to brown paper bags for a few days to slow down the dry, even out the moisture a bit and let the middle catch up more.

I'm stuck drying at 70° and 55% rh and that's what I do with good results. Usually mine are in bags by day 5 and depending on the bud can spent another week like that before they hit the jars.

The stems are not at the snapping stage yet , but I still don’t like how crispy these things are. Your paper bag protocol sounds appealing at this point.

You should be fine. The “hay” smell is (I’m guessing) the breakdown of chlorophyll at this point. Sounds like You could finish the cure in jars, burping regularly now.
