I've been checking out some info about Fytocell recently, and it looks like roots LOVE it. I'd like to try it out sometime, but I can't find anywhere in the US that sells it.

I know that it comes from Australia, and I saw an online store called Greens that sells it, but Greens is a UK company.... I'm not sure if they ship to the US, but even if they did, the price for shipping wouldn't make it worth it, anyways.

So, are there any US stores that carry fytocell?

They're really not that similar. perlite doesn't really hold water. it catches a little bit of water inbetween particles but doesn't absorb water like the fytocell foam. It seems kinda like coco and perlite together... the water retention of coco, but lighter and more airy

There is a Fytocell plant in Mexico.

I spoke to a company called e-hydro who are based in California. I spoke to these guys last year and they had plenty of it then.

Make sure you pre-condition for optimal results (48 hours soak in week PH adjusted nutritive solution)

I've been using this stuff for over a year now so should you need any info just drop me a PM. I've done 4 grows with 100% Fytocell in that time and 3 other grows using it as a soil amendment.

Whatever you do, hydro or soil grows, I couldn't recommend this stuff highly enough.

This is the future of growing.

Looks like STG. Which flashed and faded in the market. Have you checked them side by side?

Its nothing like STG.

From what I gathered about STG is that it is a free draining media suited to flood and drain tables.

Fytocell is like a sponge like material in which it will suck water up via its capillary action. This combined with its 37% air content ensures your roots are sitting in the optimum Air/water content and the roots just go crazy.

The pot has the correct Air/water content throughout because of this.

Thanks for the info, Budzilla. I'm guessing this is the company/product you're talking about:

I had to type in e-hydro fytocell in google to even find their site...

$40 for a 50L bag, not including shipping.... pretty expensive...

Are there any other online vendors selling it?

yeah, after shipping it's just under $60 for about 12.5 gallons of it....... very pricey in comparison to perlite/coco/pro-mix... I'd like to try it out though. I guess they are out of stock of the 100L bags... Does anybody know how much those were?

Maybe they'll do a better price on a few of the 50L bags if talked to on the phone...

$60 to get a 50L bag shipped to me is too much for me right now lol. I'd love to see some side by side comparisons between fytocell and a really airy coco coir mix to see if there is much of a difference or not. I think coco is fytocell's closest competition...

Have you used coco, Budzilla?
