Is it advisable to make RSO from trim /larf?

So I am going to attempt making RSO. Can I use my dry trim sugar leaves and larf, or should I just use some bud? Both are options. I get that as a rule the potency will be better with bud... but I'd hate to trash my good shit on a failed first attempt... not that I plan on a total fail, but there's obviously a learning curve.

I recently made some wax/shatter from my sugar leaves. Just to test out the process. Turned out great; good taste, and buzz. Everyone that tried it asked where I got it from.
