When your pistils are 40% - 50% brown, start checking trichs.

Throw the scope away and harvest when the flower is ripe. Listen to your nose.

Pistol color and texture is also a big indicator in combination with trichome color. Your pistols are still vibrant white and fluffy. You'll see them start to change a deeper color and shrivel up a tad as it gets closer. Around that same time you'll see the trichomes go from clear to milky. Looking good otherwise.

It is a matter of taste, strain, and what type of high do you want and how strong? I harvest some plants at this stage to get a more cerebral buzz with far less couch lock. Then I harvest some more at about 15 to 20% amber for a balanced buzz. At 50% or more of amber you will sit down, light up, and not move for an hour or more. I am saying that you need to try some at each stage and then the same with other strains. Harvest a bud now, dry and cure and label. Harvest buds at each stage, dry, cure, and label. Then you will know what you like instead of other people telling to harvest at the stage they prefer.
