I topped it at like the 2nd node if I remember correctly, but ever since then the 2nd branch that grew in isnt growing as strong or as tall as the 1st main branch, is this something I've done wrong or maybe its just genetics

Most plants I have grown always had a leading stem from a top. I had one successful fimm that gave me 4 and I had one stem that did crazy and 3 regular nodes.
I have learned ( finally ) to start LST spreading on topped growth ASAP like when it is 3 inches long get that thing horizontal.

hm okay I have 2 Thai xxl seedlings I'll take that advice on !
