Issues with Homemade Cart from distillate

Good Afternoon Farm -

Just recently came across a good bit of oil my friend gave me a while back (I believe its a sort of distillate). I've made some gummies and edibles with it and the past and they've been great. (The oil is gold.. no taste / smell).

I came across this video ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CzhuJqwJlgA ) on how to make cartridges at home and follow it to a T. However, when I put the oil into my carts via syringe, it did not take long at oil for the oil to harden and now is at the point to where it won't move at all. (Heated with a hot plate to infuse terpenes and in a matter of seconds it was rock solid in the cartridge).

Any suggestions here how to reuse these few MLs I have stuck in the carts? / Any suggestions on what to do moving forward, double the terpenes? Use liquidizer?

I’ve had similar problems. I once melted gram of hash rosin, put in cart and had the same issue. The type of oil matters. So ur adding terps? What ratio? If it’s distillate it should already be a good consistency to syringe without terps. Get familiar with what ur final product looks like at room temp before filling. I’m 1:1 on flower rosin and 2:1 on hash. Hash strong so I thin it to last.

Yeah trying to figure out from him what exactly the oil was. (Its rock solid in a glass cup at room temp).

I put at terpenes in at a 10% ratio.

Good call on seeing what final product looks like before filling. I just ordered some 15ga syringe needles so going to try it again when they come in.

if ceramic, lightly blow torch until gooey, syringe out what you can salvage. It’s a tough one.

Once I get more syringes in im going to torch it then extract, use an old glass shatter container, add some terpenes to see if it thins it, and let cool at room temp to see what happens (that's all I can think to do) - wish me luck.

Any other other ideas for ways to use up the oil I besides gummies are appreciated as well! (A pretty good amount, trying to salvage).

Sounds like shatter.

There are products called wax liquidizers on the market for this purpose. PG and VG will work as well. heat it up, add the liquid, and when it cools back down it should be more like syrup than hard candy.

But why? He already has liquid terps, just not using enough of it.

I'll try to add more terpenes when they get in and keep you guys posted. My buddy doesn't remember exactly what kinda oil it is, just said he has never had luck making cartridges with, only edibles.

Ill keep you guys posted if any good news.

My liquid terps (true terpenes) do not thin out shatter. They make a separate product to do that, and then you add the terps in. Not sure what MT is using, but it seemed like it was not working?

Hmm Mr. extractor terps work for me with every form of concentrate. Even that rock hard rosin shatter. Perhaps some extra agitation but good nonetheless. It’s why I switched away from liquidizers a while back. I just don’t want PG.

I don't like PG either.

I think Mosh was right, and MT should just dab the shatter rather than add PG or VG or whatever, but different people have different needs. Hard to take a dab rig with you in the car or to the concert I guess.

I have been thinking more and more about adding terps to my oil. Not necessarily to thin it, but to add a bit of flavor back. I dont want any funky flavors. Just a natural cannabis terp. If it thins the oil a bit I am not concerned.

It doesnt really matter what temp I axtract or process at. I cant seem to retain the terps. I have only had one batch that I managed to retain some. This stuff tasted just like the weed smelled. I havent been able to duplicate it. Quality of flower? The bud I am referring to was Sticky Dreams. The bud itself was super gooey and very aromatic. It was my first attempt at filtering with mediums, (Celite, Charcoal). The oil turned out amazing. I myself couldnt believe I made it. I even had a buddy call bullshit. And in a Source Tubo! LOL

Can somebody recommend a quality trusted Brand? Preferably available in Canada? I want only natural pure terps. What am I looking for?

@Moe.Red Is it legal for you to sell me your terps? Everything I am doing is legal in Canada. I want to keep it that way. Unlike alcohol, we are allowed to do whatever the fuck we want to do to our own weed. We can legally grow weed, make beer and wine, but cant make ethanol. Go figure.

I use true terpenes. I went that route because of the staff. There are certain OG scientists in this field I trust
