It’s not going horrible, but some issues in first grow please help

Hello ! This is my first grow and it could be worse, I’ve come a long way from my starter trays. I’m at day 20 for the biggest so the rest are days younger. Currently in 1 gallon pots, I started with a brick coco and some perlite. I spoke with the company and they said no need to buffer the coco , but the leaves have been stripped this way for the most part. I’m sure there’s a slew of other problems. Temps have been sporadic but have calmed down as it enters fall in my north eastern city. Currently sitting at 81. In a 3x3 with a hlg Diablo 350, was giving 400 ppfd but have eased up and am now at 250 with some advice. I was feeding every other day which probably led to my issues, but have since started feeding once per day, and then moved to twice a day halving ec content. I Am using Silica and the full nute line from cronk nutrients with calmag. Any help is much appreciated !

Did you rinse your brick of coco?? Also it does not appear to be wet enough.. And finally how is the PH..

So my main theory is that I did not rinse which is causing my issues. I’ve bought some better bag coco and have been thinking about transplanting in to 3 gallons with the better coco, but I have been heavily advised not to until they get healthier. The ph is perfect going in at 6 coming out at 6. One thing I will say during this post last feed went in at 1.3 ec and came out at 1.3. Next feed I was advised to feed at 1.6. Fed at 1.6 runoff was .9. If it sounds like I should transplant please let me know. My only issue is these deficiencies and I started to feed with half strength nutes when they first popped and worked my way up to what’s recommended. The pic included is last week they were very light, color is getting darker but still have the pattern.

Hey! Sounds like you're making great progress for your first grow—congrats on getting this far! It’s awesome that you're adjusting things like the light and feeding schedule, as these small tweaks can make a big difference.

The leaves being stripped could be due to several factors, but your adjustments in feeding frequency and lowering the EC should help stabilize things. Even though the company said no need to buffer the coco, sometimes coco can still retain salts, so adding calmag as you're doing is a smart move.

81°F is generally okay for now, but as the season changes, it's good that you're monitoring the temperature. If things don’t improve, checking the pH level (aiming for 5.8-6.2 in coco) might help, and keep adjusting based on how your plants react.

You're doing great so far, and the fact that you're asking questions and making changes shows you're on the right track. Keep it up, and feel free to share more updates or ask for more advice anytime!

Wow what a great response. Thank you for the reassurance , I have been trying to see how the plants react to different things in terms of light and ec and ph. I typically like to raise it closer towards lights off as I noticed they would wilt heavily lights off so maybe tooo much dli I think it is. I upped the ec a bit as I am now at day 24 and they responded well. Am upping ec to 6.1 to hopefully push more calcium, and am reading the plants to adjust lighting staying around 350-450 ppfd. What’s your usually ph? Cal is best taken at 6.2 in coco so how can you stay at 5.9ph

I'll run 5.9ph from about 20 days until finish. I have brought ph up to 6-6.1 in final weeks of flowering but not typically. This is following the dr.mjcocos feed chart and i havent had any problems in 5 cycles. I dont use the water wetting agent or the h202 and i add hydroguard to feel bettwr about keeping a 3-4 day feed resivoir. This brings up a good point as well, that by final watering im sure ph has moved above 6 in the res

They look overwatered to be honest, are you giving them time to dry out some before watering again?

Are you using this nutrient line? My nutrient line suggested 5.7-5.9 in seedling then about 6.0-6.5 through veg and bloom, but I haven’t gone above 6.2. Do you think 5.9 would be sufficient now that I am in late veg or should I just listen to the mute line and keep about 6.0-6.2

This is where I am now. Just transplanted , have topped and done some lst. Waiting for them to bounce back from topping

Im using the GH trio myself, and for sure would say the manufacturer would know more than me. However, 6.5 seems high in coco. I would think you're fine at 5.9PH
