Week 6 - Flower

This pheno is by far the frostiest. Slightly thinner fan leaves and a lighter mint green color. I think she's the winner of the three.

Growing out some freebies I got from Jordan of the islands. God's Candy is a hybrid of God bud and Aficionado's Candyshop (Runtz x Trufflez). I had a difficult time with germinating these guys. Soaked 15 beans and only 5 sprouted. I've had similar problems germinating other God Bud crosses. I've tried 2 others and honestly if the final products weren't such absolute fire I would have quit on these awhile ago. But here we are wading into another grow with these tricky little beans.
This is the first time I'm doing a God bud cross indoors, and it might be my last indoor grow for some time, so I'm pretty stoked for this one. I haven't detailed the infancy or vegetative phase of these gals because I wasn't sure how far they'd make it based on my germination issues. And to be clear I'm relatively new to growing (5 years total, 3 with earnesty, and only 2 indoors) and as of yet I've kinda fudged my way through the germination/seedling phase and made up for it in veg/bloom.
So, 15 beans, 5 sprouts, 2 males and 3 females. 2 of the females are pretty similar, squat, branchy, and with a protruding central cola. One is quite a bit bushier than the other but they share the same basic shape. I trained the lower branches away from the central stock but haven't topped as i understand that God bud crosses don't respond well to topping or bending of the central cola for training.
The 3rd female I am especially excited about. She was a mutant; one I've encountered before in other strains. She basically tops herself and has all her branching shoot out from the sides. So not only do i have 5 main colas but the center of the plant is totally horizontal thus allowing all the little side shoots to go straight up. I did tie down the 5 main branches but otherwise this little gal basically topped and trained herself!
The 2 males are strong, healthy, Christmas trees. Almost identical. I forgot to get pictures but I'm looking forward to crossing this one!

It's just my blurple light. They are very dark green. The females probably will purple a bit as that is common with God bud.

Oh no! Bud pie has nanners!! And like, a lot of them. Picked of a dozen this morning. Oh well, there goes my plans of trying to isolate that self topping gene . I will move the other 2 into my tent with the OG Kush BX and isolate the misbehaver. Le sigh...

Bud pie has been de-nannered and isolated. No new unwelcomeness detected. Her sisters are progressing nicely. Trained and trimmed and budding away!

Pictures above are of the sisters, bud pie is under blurple light which doesn't lend itself to photos and I'm to lazy to drag her out for a photo shoot.

Buds are looking amazing, just finishing 5 weeks. Gonna give them a flush and then start heavy bloom nutes. These beauties have shown little to no adverse reactions to salts so I'm gonna try and dial them up for a week. Tricombs are absolutely glistening on the isolated one! Getting excited for this harvest!!

That frost and purple fade are looking proper now. She does look close, but I'd let the trichs make the final call, there are still enough fresh pistils in those shots that I wouldn't get impatient.

At this point I'd keep the root zone boring: steady drybacks, no big feed swing, no heavy flush unless the pot is actually salty. Late flower is where they can still add smell and a little weight if you don't stress them right at the finish.

Ok! I had planned on starting a flush due to the fact that ive been dumping a ton of nutes in the last few weeks but you're suggesting not necessarily doing that? Flushing seems to be such a contentious issue amongst the growing community and ive always done it but maybe ill try something else this time. Would you suggest a reduced feed schedule then?

Due to the fact that I love making crosses with my plants, and also due to the size of my grow area, I have had seeds in most of the green ive grown. I honestly don't notice a big drop in quality. The seeds are annoying for sure but some people act as if their crops are completely ruined if they get so much as one seed. Perhaps im not a refined enough connoisseur to detect the difference and I'm sure in commercial settings it's a bigger issue but I've tried a lot of different herb over many years, from many different breeders, and in multiple countries and I would put mine up against any of it!
Anyways, she's looking amazing, thinking of chopping next weekend!
