Wasps/Yellowjackets. They like to eat meat haha. There have been times when I went camping, made some burgers and walked away for a little bit. Came back and there were a bunch of them just chowing down on my meat. :cry:

I agree. They grew more lush under the COBs and I think it was the combination of pruning of the primary fan leaves while under the LEDs that caused the mutant growth, and that ended now that they're under normal outside growth conditions. The Cannabis Encyclopedia says the fingers decrease in number as the flowers begin but with all the crazy new genetics the encyclopedia may as well be a stone tablet. What were once rules are now often the exception. I would buy a newer copy of the book but Cervantes started to annoy me by giving website refs instead of actually updating all of the printed text. That's some lazy sh*t.

They are Yellow Jackets. They eat animal corpses but are just as happy to jump on your burger or fish sticks. Annoying little bastards, they live in underground nests in the hundreds to thousands. They are also a type of paper wasp. They cut leaves and chew them up to make their nests. They are moderately aggressive and are attracted by smell to each other. If you kill one another will be along very shortly to eat it's corpse. If you put a piece of bacon in a wasp trap there will be 100+ in it by the end of the day.

ROFL, I live where others go camping. They are a daily nuisance to me. Especially since I BBQ most of the time. At least they're not as bad as at the higher elevations. I'm just below 3000' but you get up around 6000' where food is more scarce and those f^ckers will swarm you by the thousands during a BBQ.

...on a positive note. Meat bees will also eat aphids etc on your plants. That's why I don't set traps for them in the garden. Their benefit generally outweighs their damage. But I do enjoy a little payback now and then for the caterpillar-like cuts they leave in the leaves and daily battles over my food. Long tail wasps (the ones with the narrow thorax and usually seen in nests under house eaves) are less aggressive and are equally impressive predators. I am much more friendly with them because they leave my steaks alone.

You may not have known them because we are referring to Western Yellow Jackets as "meat" or "trash" bees. They are found in the states west of the Rockies.

Now I remember not seeing any in Texas and Nebraska. The first time I had a BBQ in Omaha I was covering my food and looking around in the air all paranoid like. My girlfriend asked me what I was doing and when I told her I was watching for meat bees she had no clue what I was talking about and thought I was crazy.

I don't think your Yellow Jackets are anything like these little bastards. Ours are half the sise of a Honey Bee, eat just about anything a human will, and they love booze, especially beer. I always make sure my drinks are covered as well as my steaks. They are a pain in the a$$ by mid summer when their nests get big.

Yeah I'm east of the Rockies so they prolly aren't the same but I'd say the things we have here are no less annoying,I can't stand bugs of really any sort,I appreciate what alot of them do and their role in the world but they still have a spot reserved on my long list of "could do without".

She pushed through some gaps in the shade cloth. Almost 8' now.

My favorite garden critters. They are all over the girls today. Hope the Spinosad doesn't hurt them.

Looks like they're flowering a little early this year. So much for getting clones before they start. I think it's because of the shade from the oaks and the shade cloth. I'll give them a few days before I start bud cycle nutes. Maybe I can take advantage of all three Fox Farms salts (Beastie Bloomz, Cha Ching, Open Sesame).

My favorite feature of the path. A granite upcropping. I'll get better pics with my DSLR. (It's waaay more impressive than what can be seen in this pic. Like a miniature mountain.)

In the bottom mantis pic I just missed a second one because I couldn't get the phone's camera to focus. The whole time trying to follow it and frame both mantids in the shot. Before I could get in the pic it flipps me off and does some Jedi mega super jump into the unknown.

The top mantis pic is one of my recent favorites. I lucked out getting that great silhouette.

The Idunnoes has a very interesting shape. I'm kind of hoping for you to have a similar structure with your Cheese. It looks like a plant that's going to get a lot of light to individual colas and possibly even easier to harvest than the standard Christmas tree shape. I helped thread part of her through the shade cloth. At that height might as well take advantage of any extra support it can get. The Banana Crack is also pushing against the cloth now and she is a truly substantial plant.

The nature path is almost ready, but...

...it's probably becoming a track for my little cousin and his tiny Honda dirt bike too. Oh, yeah!!! I'm gonna help that kid get some jumps set up. Woohoo, a nature path and midget moto-cross. ROFL

Can finally get pics from this side without falling in a huge ditch filled with BlackBerry vines. Those motherf^ckers hurt!

They're growing like weeds! lol. Looking great. My wife's allergic to bananas, can't stand them. I'd bet if it tastes at all like banana she wouldn't go near it. More for us!

haha! I love bananas but you know what I can't stand? Artificial banana flavor. It has a very odd taste to me :p

Yup, I've only had a few strains that tasted completely different. One was a Blueberry Kush 20yrs ago, a Pineapple Kush last year, and Girl Scout Cookies a few years ago. The Girl Scout Cookies was the craziest with a Belgian waffle flavor and almost nothing like weed. If it actually tastes like bananas that'd be pretty weird. I think I'd prefer subtle hints if it's going to be my daily driver next year.

I'm going to cut the shade cloth down. I didn't make it tall enough and the girls are too big this year. They're being burned as they grow against it.

After removing the shade cloth. I love the shade cloth and stand by it's effectiveness but these girls are turning into trees. It gave them a solid start. They're strong enough to handle full sun now and my guess is they'll reach 9' plus. I pray there are no hail storms this year.

I never expected the sise I'm getting out of them this year. My 9' estimate is ultra conservative and I honestly belive they'll get a lot bigger. I don't think it's so much about strain (though I did try to pick big growers), more about starting them 6-8 weeks early using the tent.

Visited them a few minutes ago and the ones in full sun don't look stressed. I'll take more pics at the hottest part of the day to show how they're holding up.

Here's some comparison pics between this year an last on July 19 in the front corner.
