I try to cut the 5ht, 7th and 9th nodes, and then bend branches as needed. Tie them down with wire ties, and push them into particular holes in a trellis mesh.

There is also the interesting technique called FIM. Look that up and give it a try. You can get some VERY bushy results that way.
