@GrowGod I started from seeds that are no longer available. Veeery long story short the seeds were developed by the Granddaddy Purp Collective, headed by Ken Estes. The story goes that he started the collective a few years back as a response to all of the people trying to use his GDP cut for breeding. He is the supposed originator of the "ken's cut" GDP, which is the GDP I know and love. Other cuts I'm aware of are the Royal (supposed sister) and Gross Domestic Product, the supposed original.
I do not believe that he S1'd the Ken's cut for these seeds...grow results are too variable yet traits seem to carry through breeding wise. My belief is that his GDP is an F1 of his cali purps native american plant x with a fast flowering skunk. That would make sense with the smell, variability, and sativa leaning look with indica stone. It would also be why the run of seeds that mine came from has the Ken's cut as only one of many possible phenos, there are even some phenos that look better than the cut. I wish my male had a corresponding female, would have certainly competed with the cut.
Can't wait to see the new ones! I'm crossing Ken's with some Thai too. They sure taste good and accent each other when mixed in the bowl (I make "blends") so crossing the plants should yield some nice hybrids. Maybe think about cloning yourself so 1 of you can hang out with your girls every day!
I'm using Lemon Thai which is already a hybrid. Got a friend will donate some pollen for this project. I don't grow sativas, They take way too long in the greenhouse. Last time I tried, they were still going strong in November and it was way too cold. Was hell trying to keep them warm enough and they did NOT like it. Ended up ruining most of the crop. Colorado is the perfect place to grow indicas though! I'm finding anything originating from Afghanistan do great here - similar climate.
I think I remember a while back you mentioned inbreeding Deep Purple. I'm growing F2 seeds now and it's going well. I finally figured out the little "runts" are the ones you need to keep!! They don't get very big but are fully purple right out of their seeds. They sprouted purple.
Point me to the real GDP I needs itFor fucks sake, Ken fucking Estes did not create the GDP! Dude just made some seeds with the cut. And they weren't that good.
Might have to ask @zeke about the real.Point me to the real GDP I needs it
