I have 2 plants both 4 months old. The first one showed pre-flowers around its 3 month mark. But now both of them are still not showing pre flowers. I am growing outdoors so they have been on 12/12 since sprout. I hope you guys can help me determine why they are not showing preflowers yet.

So lets just talk about what makes a plant go into flower. These plants veg when they are exposed to short nights, and once those nights get longer (ie. 12 hours of dark) THEN they start to flower.

Your plants are not on 12/12. They are on the timer of the sun, and right now it's summer so the nights are short, as such they are in veg. Once the seasons change it will go into flower mode.

i forgot to include in the post that i also have a 1month old plant that is already flowering. so things arent rlly adding. up for me lol

Sounds like that plant is an autoflower most likely.

But the reason indoor growers use 12/12 light cycle is to mimic that it is getting into the colder seasons. We literally have to mimic what happens outdoors in our tents to make them flower. You can take a second to Google it and see what I'm talking about, but that's just the facts. If you have photo periods outside they are not going to bloom until the nights get longer.

the one that is flowering at 1 month is also outdoors and from the same bagseed i got the 2 from. Same genetics, medium, feeding etc.

Yeah, I'll be honest. I don't know what to tell you about that. I only grow indoors so I don't know what could have made that happen or, so I'll let someone with more outdoor experience answer that.

From what I’ve seen, it’s never a good idea to start growing plants in the middle of winter! Don’t know why one didn’t go into flower! But the ones that did might want to reveg on you now that the days are getting long! If you’re growing them over there, I wouldn’t know what to expect! Getting pretty close to the equator there! Depending on whether you’re in the north or in the south! I would like to see some pictures if you can muster some up!👍 seems like people on or near the equator plan their growing more by the rainy season or dry season then they do by the winter or summer! There is so little variation in the hours of sunlight.

I think you'll get a lot of mileage for your cannabis growing future by reading up on cannabis photoperiodism. While some strains trigger outside of "normal" parameters, flowering is usually triggered when they are getting 10 or more hours of uninterrupted darkness. If it's not being triggered, then they are probably not getting 10 hours or more of uninterrupted dark. Lights in the yard can mess with this. Also you'll learn over time you can flower them anytime you want or keep them from flowering by manipulating light duration outdoors. Obviously you can't move a plant in the ground but if they're in pots/growbags you can put them in a shed for extra light or extra dark depending what you want and time of year.

It sounded like the OP might be over in the Philippines growing a local strain! You start getting closer to that equator with a native plant and maybe they have to grow it differently! In the south there the longest day of the year is 12 1/2 hours! There isn’t much variation! That’s why watching someone grow a native plant in a native land is so interesting when you get down towards the equator! But it would be nice to see some pictures! You’ve probably seen the guys over in Thailand, trying to grow modern hybrids! They have to use supplemental light during the entire veg! But I don’t know if they have to do that when growing Thai weed!
