Kingbrite 720w full spectrum vs Meijiu A8Max 650w

Hi,

I'm looking for main light to cover
2m x 2m area, I do have few 55w cxb3590 to supplement coverage on corners and I'm stuck between two choices, price difference 120 usd between the two.

Kingbrite:

1x 720w LM301H 3500K+CREE XP-E2 660nm+730nm+LG UV (10 bars)

720W
LED	Samsung LM301H: 252pcs / bar CREE XP-E2 660nm: 12pcs / bar CREE XP-E2 730nm: 4pcs / bar LG UV 385nm: 4pcs / bar Total: (252+12+4+4) * 8 bar = 2176pcs MeanWell 600H-48B + 2pcs XLG-50

Or Meijiu:


MEIJIU-A8-MAX-650W-V2/V3 3000K, Each kit includes:

1. 8pcs high efficiency strips Samsung LM301B with 660nm 730nm IR and UV 395nm diodes
2. 1pc Inventronics Driver EUD-600S12ADT,
3. hang wires, adjust hanger, user manual, plug wire,
4. 1PC RJ45 dimmer(support daisy chain).

Fixture size: 1100x1100x55mm (3.67'*3.67')

Although kingbrite is more expensive it is runnning on lm301h (any advantage over 301b?), has on/off switch for UV and IR which is missing in meijiu.

Any thoughts guys?

imo they are both too small and you should be using both at the same time.

you're going to want 30 - 35 w of led per sq foot. 2x2m is roughly 6ft so 6x6x35=1260
6x6x30=1080

By a well known and largely followed ratio 1080w would be minimal.
if you're dead set on buying one of these, buy the one that uses more wattage.

lm301b and h are pretty much exactly the same. Samsung does QC testing and what ever ends up in the top of the tests is labeled H for horticulture to be sure the best leds are going to horticultural use where it matters not to human used light where we couldn't tell the difference. The difference is less than %1 on average.

you're also going to want to think about light footprint. One fixture in the center of a 6x6 tent will make a hotspot in the center and low light in the corners and edges.

if it was me. I would get 4 x 250w kingbrites and call it a day.

as far as uv goes. I would stay away from uv built in to fixtures. First of all, you dont need UV for 75% of your grow. So it's just a waste of wattage for your fixture. Second, led UV suck harder than a $2 hooker on cheap beer night. They are almost useless. Third, led UV burns out faster than other LEDs.

I use uv reptile bulbs to supplement uv un the last half of flower, and it's only on for a couple hours a day.

I would purchase the Kingbrite bar light personally. It has all the bells and whistles you're looking for. I have 8 kingbrite quantum boards that have served me well. The bar light design seems to work much better for me in shorter grow spaces though.

I'm not overly familiar with the driver in the Meiju so I can't say much there. I have many lights using Meanwell drivers and they have been operating without a hitch. The difference between LM301B and LM301H is almost none. The LM301H has a different coating on the led chip and the "H" designation is for "Horticulture." In real world applications, you won't notice the difference.

The on/off switches for the UV and IR on the Kingbrite board is key upgrade over the other.

However, at the end of the day they both will work. The real question is are the extra bells and whistles worth the extra $$ spent? Only you can decide that for you.

P.S. your 2m x 2m tent will need about 1270 watts to completely light the whole 42.5 sq foot area

Having uv switches sounds great. But unless you can put them on a timer they will be on or off most of the time since you're probably not going to remember to switch it every day for 2 hours. And they still suffer from all the same issues of taking up your wattage, not being very good and not lasting long.

Reptile bulbs are 20 bucks each kinda thing, put out way more UVB and last a long time.

Using 50w supplement for the corners and sides could work. But you need like 6 or 8 of them.

the lm301h is a bit better then the b and was designed for horticulture. they say it's brighter and more efficient but is it noticeable?

Can confirm. Have been using kingbrite for years. Multiple fixtures never a single issue. Meanwell drivers are solid.

Coming in to recommend Kingbrite again. They're just barely a notch below HLG but every one I've bought has been awesome and issue-free. Meiju has a checkered at best reputation.

Both companies are quite similar and I would use either. Kingbrite has more options but they both offer a quality light WITH SOME STRIP DOWN MODELS..... avoid those The companies try to confuse the buyers....you have to look close at all the specs and details.
Both will offer almost identical lights with slight differences. Look for the best price on a light that uses the 351h or b whites. The epistar and osram are close in comparison with osram being just a hair better but honestly its slight. I have heard issues with both lights just like every other light. In my experience Both lights are quality and their top line uses meanwell drivers 351 h and epi or osram reds. I have some Meijiu 8 bars listed for sale in the lights section. I took them in trade...brand new in the box. They are great lights using great parts. They are price really well if you still need a light. If you have any questions let me know.

Itsa a good light. I made a rack of 4 of the 240 boards for my first LED light. Then I sold that and built a bar light set up. The only reason I changed was I started building lights and wanted to run what I build. Here was the rack of the 240's and a shot of my 740 watt veg rack. The veg rack is 2x8 .
