Hey all,
I've got a 10-week old Acapulco Gold plant that appears very mature and has very lavender colored trichomes. I grew it as an afterthought and its entire life cycle was spent under a 400-watt HPS light. I havested it and drying now. Just wondered if any growers have encountered this before?

Closest Ive seen to Golds in 10yrs is Schrom clone only - Rom x SMCGold...it grows like a Lumbo Gold but I took her 12-14wks.....

Thought he did it justice

Bud is not purple. About 20-30% of trichomes are lavender colored. Other than that they look perfectly "normal". All heads are cloudy or like "frosted glass" except a few are this interesting lavender color. Got it drying now. I'll see if I can get a picture thru a microscope.

Here's what I came up with, using my cell phone looking into a small microscope. What do you think??

The bud may not be purple but the color that makes the tricomes look that way is the same pigment called anthocyanin. The same chemical that makes blueberries blue and raspberries red although the darker blue the higher the concentration of the pigment.

So does this type of coloration happen often? All I've every seen/read/heard is about amber colored trrchomes. Is it somehwat common to run into other colors as well? Just curious.

It is usually the stalk of the tricome that has the pigment from what I have seen and the head generally stays clear or opaque depending.....Looks like yours are mostly clear still, and probably won't get much more colorful IMO
