The Oregon Liquor Control Commission (OLCC) says Tom Burns, the former head of marijuana programs in the state, was terminated from his post because he leaked sensitive documents to lobbyists for cannabis growers and dispensaries.

Burns was directly involved in the rulemaking process for the state’s recreational marijuana program, which is currently in development.

Burns apparently emailed at least one confidential document to lobbyists, a serious breach of protocol. After administrators found out about the leak and confronted him, he reportedly lied about it, according to an NBC affiliate.

“(Burns’) employment was ended when we presented him with the evidence that he had shared that document,” Tom Towslee, a spokesman for the OLCC, told the TV station.

It’s not clear exactly what kind of material Burns shared with the lobbyists.

The OLCC and other officials reiterated that despite the setback, the state remains on track for drafting regulations for the industry. Administrator Will Higlin has been assigned to take over for Burns for the time being.

Why does anyone trust and support the same corrupt statists who've inflicted (and continue) so much terror through prohibition, and now also their laws meant to further control and steal from us? And why is leave us the hell alone never on the ballot?

Another thought, so they keep stressing how the black market must be eliminated for their program to work. Yet we just voted into law that most Oregonians can grow if they want. Anyone who can do math knows the free (black) market supply in OR goes through the roof this fall.

The hearing on Monday was definitely interesting. Most laughable speaker was the gentleman representing the league of cities or whatever. "We should do this this and that so that we make the federal government happy" I just about wanted to vomit. They're happy as we speak, making money off me and you - lest we forget the money they're making off minor charges and imprisonment in the other states.

Bringing attention to the DUI definitely got a laugh out of me as well...The hypocrisy won't end there that's for sure. Limiting how many plants one can grow is rape. Truly, when you think about it. You are, without consent, thoroughly exploited by your government. Its evident.

Still thinking about this. Why isn't anyone at these meetings talking about how much of the tax booty will be used to help repair and compensate so many innocent lives wrecked during prohibition?

I mean they supposedly will give the stolen money to schools, cops, and mental health industry, but no mention of helping those locked in cages and/or financially ruined by immoral prosecution? Are people traumatized by years of prison life less in need of assistance than those with different emotional and neurological problems?

And what about all the people suffering from horrible pain and illness who've been systematically marginalized and manipulated (and continue to be) through prohibition and medical politics? Or those who couldn't wait this long, and are no longer with us?

I just think morality and legislation can't and won't ever mix...History as proof. They're also not interested in general welfare, we have the unalienable right to pursue that, but they're definitely not the sole providers..Sad as it is people still look for somebody/something to do that. A big appropriation goes to cops actually, which without a doubt will be then just used to purchase the rest of the leftover equipment that got to make its way back from our overseas wars, or just surplus or whatever. Those folks need to make money off pot and prisoners too somehow. That's why they cruise in APCs in the big cities now..Many birds with one stone from their side of the table.
