these are Grow led hydro lights and i am on 420mag. under irishboy, along with setting sun. and others. i was the very 1st person to post these leds on 420 or to ever use the GLH lights, after i tested a few other company's in my past.
if you have been on 420mag then i am sure you have seen my threads?

i didnt make my own and i also i dont think my lights are junk on line lights. 90 degree lenese are the way to go. ive used 120,90,60. 90 is the best of both worlds i get great penetration and good foot print. a 300w unit will do a 3x3 area like setting suns on 420mag with the side x side against a 400w hps.

good luck with making ur own light, keep me posted on that, sounds cool. ive though about making my own until i found these GLH lights then i was happy with what ive got.

Thank You

I just wanted to thank everyone who has replied to this thread.
I will be doing my homework before building my LED system.

Have a Happy and safe New Year!

Sorry LEDs aint going to do the job, not yet at least, and anything under 1000w HPS is near pointless, air cooling lights is alright, but once you put that glass on the reflector you loose 25% of your light.
Yah i love the thought of less, Heat and Electricity but thu testing there just not good enough now, even a room full of big ones.(300+w) each.

This is a cabinet.. 1000w is waay too big.. might even get bleaching ;)

Built a cabinet in '96.. inner chamber was 30" wide x 18" deep, and about 2' from top of hydro tub to bottom of my air-cooled hood. .. It only had a 250w hps. A 400w would've been perfect. In fact the 250w hps and say 2 75w mh's either side of it.. all in the same air-cooled hood.. would've been optimal. .. 1000w is overkill for a cabinet.

My system was perpetual.. 6 plant rotation.. 2oz to 4oz a month, depending on the strains. I also had to make my own air-cooled hood.. couldn't find a manufactured one that was only 18" wide.

Cheers........

i am happy with my leds buds. most of those big buds just just branches i had like 5-6 on each plant. ive also pulled 19oz from 4 plants with 600w of leds i would say thats good. never pulled that with my 100w HPS before. you just have to use the right leds. Theses plants were also grown in 100+F* they whole life from the summer heat i could never pull this off when i was using HPS. so now with leds i am able to grow in crazy hot summer heat.

With his small SOG LED grow, his last (and best) yield was 53grams from a 60w setup.

I love this guy's garden too, and it's one of the things that sold me on this. I've been pushing the "only 60 watts" as well. But I gotta call bluff..

His latest page shows the panels close up. I can count 54 led's on the top panel, and 24 led's on one of the side panels.. that's 102 1w led's in total.

Yes, 100 watts is still pretty good, and better than a 250w hps would be, but it's NOT "just over 60 watts".

I emailed him and said he should update his page to reflect the real wattage of his garden. :)

Cheers.......

got his reply...

None of the LEds are 1 watt, the Set-up is still just over 60 Watt: 1 XP-E Red at 350 mA is 2,1 Volt, therefore 2,1 * 0,35 = 0,735 Watt. Also while in flowering position the 3,2 Volt Blue Leds are at 120 mA, therefore only 0,38 Watt. Finally some of the Red's share the current with Blue ones, they are at 350-120 = 230 mA, 0,48 Watt.

So he's underdriving... my bad :p
