Not using RDWC- it has issues that seem unnecessary to deal with. I use a DIY bubbler for seedlings and clones (and on occasion to finish a plant), then transfer to my Mini-Me F & D system. Pic is one I did not have room for in my F & D tents so I let her finish in the 4 stone @ >13 L/M bubbler

So I'm the guy mentioned above with a DO sensor/controller in a UC system. I wouldn't characterize maintaining DO in an RDWC as problematic necessarily, but rather as just another variable to monitor and control. Many are happy assuming that DO levels are at least to saturation, but I prefer not to leave things to chance. I'm also a guy who owns a quantum light meter and UVB light meter. Again, many are happy with round-about ways to get at light levels; I prefer to be a bit more precise.

I'm hoping to achieve at least O2 saturation during my grow and potentially even slight super saturation. O2Grow is the electrolysis device I'm going to try to control. According Dennis, the owner of the company, their system performs very well in flood and drain type systems (in terms of super saturation), but the jury is still out in RDWC systems. I will document my findings during my grow. If the O2 Grow system works well, it will be nice to get rid of the air pumps!

The oxygen bubbles are so small, they do not break the surface... The bubbles that break the surface are the hydrogen bubbles (which are explosive).
Does that worry anyone else?

The salesman says don't worry, be happy, there ain't nothing to it. But that's the salesman's opinion... and his job is to sell, sell, sell product, the more he sells the more money he pockets. I believe that hydrogen can explode like propane, butane, acetylene gas and gasoline fumes.

Well yeah... It's bad enough that chlorine emits chlorine gas below 6.0 pH.

Don't need a grow blowing up because of hydrogen gas.:)

I see a lot of growers here like to use Clorox? Have you ever heard of - Chlorine Toxicity? http://emedicine.medscape.com/article/832336-overview

Have you ever inhaled Clorox fumes trying to kill root rot? Ever had any of these symptoms while or after treating root rot with Clorox? This only takes a small dose - 1-15 ppm.

  • Eye tearing, nose and throat irritation
  • Sneezing
  • Excess salivation
  • General excitement or restlessness
Be sure to always read the direction on the Clorox bottle label and follow those directions. Chlorine gas toxicity is preventable.
