Let's talk about plant age

Ok what determins plant age time or size? We all are aware of clones 1 to 2 inches tall little roots. But at which age do they become babies, small plant to mature? This is important because eeryone talks abut little plants getting burned up by nutes or lights but no one says at what time to switch to full nutes or light. So is age the key or height?

Age and physical maturity (which can only be accomplished over time). Doesn't matter how old they are, they can be burned up by nutes, too. I don't understand the thing with light, almost everything can be acclimated over time.
