Hey one and all! Welcome to my first little endeavour on Thcfarmer

Well where to start lol. I'm about to put 4 or 5 photo girls into my tent!

Its a 140 x 140 x 200 tent by Black Orchid.
I'm using a dual flow fan and filter also from Black Orchid.
My light will be the truly awesome bit of kit that is the Budmaster 1200 GOD!!
I'll also be using some Budmaster OD level strips for side lighting.
Soil is my medium and the pots will be cloth ones from my Oxygen pot system, as they are 5 gal and well they're going spare at present lol.

Strains!! All are fems! :)

710genetics; Andromina, High Priority.
Cannagame's; Blue Haze
Pheno Finders; Grandaddy Confidential
LoompaFarms; UnderDog

I got all the above strains from my recent adventures over in Spain, where I had been flown out by a sponsor to experience Spannabis. I was lucky to be able to spend time and have a laugh with some great folks. I can say Im now friends with many great breeders since spain. So these beans came straight from the breeders hands :)

I have way more beans and girls planned as i have other lights and things like grow systems to test.

I like my training and will be fluxing at least one of the girls. Fluxing my personal little style. It does incorporate a longer veg cycle, yet gives you total and utter control.
I may have plant OCD lol. Anyway Ive added a couple of old pics that explain fluxing hopefully.
The other plants are all already set, they are a more simple style of training! :)

Ill be updating with actual pics of my girls on friday and every week after on the same day! :)

Thanks for having me here people and hope to entertain! :)

Well let me also explain that this will probably turn into a perpetual grow! :)

I have lots of other genetics already going, such as; The Truth by True Canna (got em personally off Ed Borg from Delta 9 labs) Then we have some Karma OG from Karma Genetics. Then thanks to my friend at Loompa were also starting some Blue Dawg. These are all regs and I've dropped a couple of each. These are for my upcoming breeding plans and may have a DP Purple #1 thrown in for some colour along the way we shall see!

Then we have a couple more babies on the way with a Sour White and a Fruity Widow! (Both from my friends at 710genetics :)

Anyway lol loads planned for next few months! :)

Any way we get to see what's hiding under those secondary optics? I'm really curios what type of emmiters they're running. What was the nominal power suppose to be? 1200W?
And actual power consumption?

Ill grab some more pics tomorrow lol.
These GOD boards are 1 watt diodes by Osram and they are of such good quality that they can be driven to a higher level. So they are driven closer to 3 watts :) The boards themselves are made by MARL in the UK. Then you have the fact of Osram spending their money and getting proper horticultural wavelengths developed :)

I'd be much happier if they used 5W diodes driven at 3W. Driving 1W emitter at 3x the power rating meand short lifetime and colour shift. What i read on their page is they are using "epileds", whatever those should be. I also read theyr unit pulls 740 actual watts. Now let's do a little math. Take in accout driver losses and assume drivers run at high efficiency like 90%. So we are left with around 666W of actual LED power which brings us to 1.67W per emitter (which would actually be ok for a 3W LED). Now take away aditional 10% for secondary optics losses and the output that unit actually puts out ends at 600W. They are also claming copper core heatsinks. But, are those LED boards made of copper? Are theose LEDs soldered directly to copper boards or are they on MCPCB with dieletrict used between? I would really like to see the build quality of a $1700.

Dont get me wrong, in that area you're gonna kill it with that light. I'm just asking myself if you're really getting what you paid for.

OK the Epiled LEDs are for the old models lol!!! :)

These are the very best diodes that Osram have to offer. They are of such high quality that they ain't even given a bin level. The quality also means they still out perform other diodes even when driven to a higher level In regards to life span and drop off! :)

Honestly check the info on their updated site! :)

Now just so all know, I didn't buy the light. Im very lucky as they are one of the companies that back me. These go for £2650, so would be well out of my price range without their sponsorship.

I've personally seen the PAR readings these lamps give off :) The guy who owns BM takes one with him to every single expo and cup etc to back up all the levels stated! :)

Put simply this light really does kill it! :)

You don't actually believe that?

The construction of that osram LED does not allow bonding directly to the cooling surface but tgrough a dielectric surface. The emmiter doesn't have a heat pad but only contact pads, meaning it those are conected directly to a heat sinking surface you'll get a short. This way the heat can't be removed directly from the core of the emmiter. On the other hand Cree, Samsung, Nichia, Seoul semiconductors,... use separate contact pads and a neutral heat pad allowing heat to be removed directly from the core being soldered directly to a copper or aluminum PCB or even better, heat sink. So this part of top german technology and ingeniounity goes down the drain. And claiming those leds are capable of being heavily overdriven is a bold statment meaning they bin their emitters at 1/3 of actual power. Also using copper core heat sinks in this case doesn't bring any advantages since the heat removing bottle neck is the emitter itself. Only bringing the costs and weight up.

I don't want to be a mood killer here, but those are just some facts I came across really quickly. The unit costs £2650 and from my point of view isnt anywhere near being worth it. And once again, I'm not saying its crap, I'm sure it performs above average, just doesn't fit the descripton well.

Lol I'm no techie and don't claim to be :)
I started my humble growing journey with an ancient 400 hps in an alcove in my kitchen with an old painting canvas as a makeshift door :)
A few years on now and I'm very lucky to just get given equipment to test and give my blunt honest opinions :)

So ill not chime in with tech speak as I'm not qualified in my own eyes! Yet I can say I've grown with the BM GOD for a while now and it is one hell of a lamp with ridiculous penetration. Then I can speak of the fact I don't own and never have needed to use Cal Mag. As most LED growers will swear they need to use this regularly. The colour they show off to the eye is far less pink/purple than other LED lamps and it actually has more a hps glow.
So to me, a guy who hasn't ever been in a strong place financially, I'm just chuffed to be able to grow with such equipment! :)
I'd certainly with my own honest experience, put this light over a 1000 hps any day! As the crop is of such better quality and as said through the crazy penetration the yields are always high! :)

Yeah lol not the start to my first journal on Thcfarmer that I really wanted! :)
I'm not here to get drawn into marketing for any of my sponsors. Or to drag down any other companies or individuals work or word!

I'm honest and speak plainly. All I love to do is grow and show others how I get big girls :) help if I can and I openly seek to learn more from others! :)

IF peopledon't like my equipment, don't buy it lol :) :)
