hi all

my lights usually come on at 8.00 AM and go off at 20:00PM . when i went into the room at 11AM they failed to turn on because the timer broke . so i replaced the timer and tried to set the time as exactly as i could . it's the manual type timer where you have to push the pins down for every 15 minutes

they are in flower for the last 5 weeks.

because the light didn't come on will this affect them in some way ?

thanks

The manual timers with pins that push in and pull out of the side of the ring malfunctioned on my also. i bought them at Harbor Freight. I replaced it and the next timer malfunctioned also.. By over 2 hours. So, I switched to a digital timer. Model TM-074. I bought mine through amazon off the internet. I used 2 of them in seperate tents for a full year without any malfuncitons. It has a digital display and 6 buttons with 3 outlets. They were not expensive.. But they were very necessary.

My experience is that plants do OK with less light than expected - we get storms and cloudy days IRL. They deal.

Where the problem comes in is where the light sticks on for 48hours strait. Plants in flower aren't equipped to understand or deal with that and can get freaked out and start changing hormones back to veg state.

You should be fine brother. Its extended light hours you dont want. Extended dark wont hurt them, just set the timer up as you did and keep it set up to go off at 20:00 and all will keep rolling on. I bought a smart plug off amazon after my first issue with the pin timers. Im actually going to buy one of the power strips thats always on, on one side and timed on the other side.

Cheers @Moe.Red and @Goodshit97 .

I have 4 x 480watt lights plugged into the same extension lead that supposedly can handle 2300 watts . Yesterday I upped the percentage to near 85% and it tripped the safety switch in the extension lead . I imagine this has something to do with it .

If I now change to having 2 lights in separate sockets with 2 timers and they don’t come on/off within 10 minutes of each other would that cause a problem?

I have ordered a new extension lead that can handle 3500 , supposedly

Imo, thats a lot of power to draw on 1 lead. Im by no means an electrical expert but i do know a bit. I would recommend 1 for each or 2 on 1 but not 4.

Not sure, this may be 220V 50Hz? I think this is Thailand power? Ben can you tell us what you are running? Higher voltage means lower current for the same wattage and makes it easier on your wiring and such.

Yes mate I think that’s correct . The timer has a max wattage of 3300w or so . The extension lead is supposed to be 2300w . I have 4 x 480 watt light that only tripped when I upped the percentage from about 75% to 85%
