I have one of these and while it does work I don't feel like you can see the trichs well enough. I went with a Carson 60-100x and wow you can really tell whats happening with the trichs.

Yep, for the price, that one looks to be the bomb! Looks like I really don't know the meaning of awesome, so I'll just say THE BOMB from now on😁

Hard to hold steady so I use a microphone stand with a boom arm to hold it steady while I get everything in focus and zoom in or out. Then just snap the photo and it saves it to your phone.
I did the same thing. It takes quite a bit of patience to get a good shot in the tent. Patience that I don't have enough of. A few close up snaps with a camera works better for me.

I think most people don't even consider the old school optical ones like this

But for $39, that is a total steal and will FAR outperform any of the cheap digital ones. You can see down to single cells with these, and even detect microbes in your root zone.

Only problem is portability. It's a destructive process since you have to cut the plant and bring the green to the scope.

I got all excited until I saw that $39 was the starting bid price. Still, even the $120 buy now tag is a worthy purchase. Think this may be overkill?: Link: hand-held pen-sized microscope 😁

ya looking for new cheap rather than old quality...My 8 grade school microscope with the three lenses would be better than the cheap mini magnifier's Azon has....I see them every once and a while in the second hand store I visit...I'm going to keep my eye out for one now

Whenever I'd go to a weed convention Advanced Nutrients was always giving out weed loupes as the convention chochkis that every booth gives out to visitors at their booth. The Advanced rep would always just open my bag and dump around 10 of them in it so I've never had to buy a loupe.

They sell them from colleges and schools pretty cheap too. I think I paid $20 for mine at a garage sale. But if you want to get to the point where you can identify a spore on your bud, this is the way to go. Then just twist it around to a smaller lens and look at trichs. Same effective tech as when us old timers were in high school.

I got a teaching model where 2 people can look at once because it came from a school I think.

This is what I use for digital. It's a high end scope with good optics, but I still end up using the old one more.

The little handheld one is good for gut checks and picking the spot to test. I'll come back and link some video from the digital one in case anyone is shopping microscopes and happens by this thread.

This thread has quite a bit of the microscope in it, this post has a video.
