@Rebeccalovato777

Just went through this myself 😉

BTW > that Kind X420 light looks Really Expensive, Osram & Philips diodes, only a 2' x 4' coverage But Twice the lifespan (100,000 hrs) of any of the other lights I looked at 😵

I'm coming from a 600w MH/HPS HID light in a 42" parabolic reflector used in a 5'w x 5'w x 4 foot high light weight reflective enclosure inside a 10' x 10' x 8' high room.

My ballast died and I decided now was the time to try LED's !

My criteria was Budget and light spread.

Basically I used the manufacturers par maps to compare brands. When possible I used the test maps provided by a second party tester who has no vested interest in sales > https://www.cocoforcannabis.com/ !

The best cost/light spread was the ViparSpectra KS5000 500w. No longer available on the Canadian site and the last one on Amazon sold before I had the cash. The US store does not ship to Canada !

Then looked at the slightly less attractive Mars Hydro FC-E4800 480w, sold out...

After three months of No Growing I decided to go with the Phlizon FD6000 640w light with Samsung chips !

On sale for $389 Cdn ! No tax, no shipping fee !

I Could Not Be More Pleased !

The infinite power control knob means no more stretching, short bushy plants at least a week ahead of what I'm used to seeing with HID. Slightly less heat and Much Better light spread compared to a single HID bulb.

This is my Girls @Day 33..

Good luck with your decision, eh ?

Cheers
Looking really good I went with spider farmer and I’m thinking of adding a low watt of ups but not sure on that yet thank you for the advice I’m kinda scared of going with his but I think I’m might use both led I have it was amazing in a small area but not enough space for my plants to grow so I have a much bigger area wish me luck!

Is it too late to cancel ?

Par map shows a Really Big Hot Spot in the center, sigh....

Cheers

So I’m redoing my grow area major upgrade! My water heater broke so my tent got messed up in the process! Sooo I’m doing my walk in closet as a grow room! Well here the question I was thinking about using the phil lights! But I changed my mind to the kind x420 dose anyone use these lights!!!’
Spider farmer Makes great lights, if they are too pricey then go with vipraspectre. Can't go wrong doing that ✌️

Maybe but light spread, not so good 😉

What that means in real use is when growing multiple plants they Will Need to be rotated regularly to assure they all get the same amount of light.

you'll see much more differences coming from the phenotypes themselves than moving the plants, light spread is good enough when panel dimension scale tent dimension.

it's not rare i have phenos on the far border of the tent bigger than thoose right under the middle of the led. or vice versa.

i never really trust 100% commercial PAR map provided per the led brands anyway ... some difference are not uncommon.

I always grow four different strains at a time and they Will exhibit different growth patterns But under a single light source (HID) or a LED with a Hot Spot the plants will always grow towards the strongest source, ie., uneven growth. Hence the need to rotate....

When purchasing a new light, why settle for "good enough" ? Look for the most even par available..

Agreed, that's why I have a bit more confidence from a second party tester...

i m a SOG afficionados with lot of plants in smaller pots under a single light, growing one strain at time, as said you'll see much more differences coming from the phenotypic distribution than from the position under the lamp.

i never observed an uneven growth related to the proximity with the source as you say (as long as your light scale tent dimension), it's just random with the phenos ....

never bothered moving the plant ... and did have many time the bigger/most productive phenos on the far side.

You cannot determine light efficacy from 1 factor. There is a lot more to the equation.

Grand master led
Also stupid expensive...

But it is the one factor that can be easily measured without investing in additional equipment. A simple lux meter on your phone And observation will allow you to set the height/power for each stage of growth.

My observations come from years with a single point light source and my first grow with 4' x 4' LED.

In both cases plants on the outside border will "grow" towards the center. Some will "lean" more than others...

Purchasing a light with the most even distribution of light will not eliminate this but will greatly extend the amount of time between the need to rotate the plants.

In the case of a SOG I can only assume the outside of the grow is receiving the minimum optimal amount while the center is receiving the maximum optimal amount ?

These are observations from My grows under My conditions !

YMMV 😉

I love it thank you! I’m really looking for help with this grow I have two plants in 25 gallon bags I’m hoping for better looking plants and buds! My old light was cheap but did an ok job I’m hoping this one blows it out of the water!

Yea I learned that a while back turning a couple hermie by moving the whole rotation of them reading some stupid article 🤦‍♀️ I did two plants but I think when you add to many it’s over kill they have no room for light!

So I do have a 1000w vivosun full spectrum light do you think add both together would be a over kill or do I just need to use the 4x4 light! It’s still a major work in progress
If you have room for both lights, then why not hang them? Then again, another option is to just hang the Vivosun light and keep the other as a spare in case the one you're using fails. I have two spare lights because it can take a few days to get a new light. They're older, but they still work.

Yeah I think I’m going to save them if I add anything it might be a low watt hps light but not sure yet I’m going to just see how this grow production is and go from there! I upgraded everything so I’m hoping! But I will definitely be sharing my journey!

About turning plants. I've been doing it for a few years. I usually grow large plants in small tents, so it works for me. I doubt the technique would apply to larger spaces or SOGs.

What I think I've learned so far is turning during vegetation makes a well-balanced plant. The growth is even in every direction. In flower, however, it doesn't seem to matter much. I have my plants on turntables. I turn them 1/4 turn every day during vegetation. I still turn them during flower, but not as often, because they can still lean toward the light and change their center of balance and potentially bend over.

Good. That 1000W Vivosun will provide plenty of light and allow you to have plenty of space above the plants. I tend to think it's best to have the light high, even if it means turning up the power. That's how the 30 watts per square foot is only a guide, not a rule, because it doesn't account for how far the light is from the floor. The higher it is, the more power is required.

Yeah that’s smart but I moved them completely out of the tent and in different spots 😂 but I can definitely see turning them during vegetation! I did it in flowering!

Uh, No 😉

There are many possible causes of plants that hermie, stress being the most likely but rotating them is Not one of them !

Need I remind you again 😍 take lux readings to give your plants the optimal amount of light for their growth stage !

Cheers

Sorry @Rebeccalovato777. I think I got your light wrong. What I wrote should still be okay, though.

King led has done well for m
