So my plan is to build a RDWC system or just run a coco drip set up. Then i saw this kit from alien hydro. They sure are proud of it from the price. I cant find any reviews on the system anywhere. Ive been out of the garden since 2009 so not up on the new stuff out. Definatly when it comes to LEDS they were just coming on the scene when i stopped. Anyway so i do like the volum of water in this system and i also like the fact the buckets turn over multiple times a hr. I was never a fan of air stones but they did the job. So im looking for information on this system as it does go off sale tonight at 12am and its like 700.00 off so basically a chiller and a multi meter.

I’m looking for reviews on the Alien V System also. There’s a few YouTube marketing videos, but haven’t seen a single user review. Has anyone actually bought one?!

Let me know if you find any beside the marketed youtube videos.

I really like the idea with how they get oxygen in the water and cutting out the airstone but want to know if that actually works well enough.

Sooo... I have one. 2 row 4 pot system in a 5x5 tent. Just getting everything ready to start the first grow.

Observations from setup. Leaks suck. I followed the manual perfectly but spent about a week and several hundred gallons of sink water pressure testing to completely remove all leaks. It's now water tight with the pots full. Drain line is secured with a 250gph pump, and I've got a 1/2hp water chiller on a 800gph pump.

Hey, i bought one last year. I got a few qeustions. How tall is the tent your doing it in?
Mine is 6'11". Im hoping that will be ok.
Also mine is 9 pot 3 row. So i got a 1 hp commercial grade chiller. Does yours work well with your setup?

Also i want to put it the header and filter outside the tent. Did you do it outside or inside?

With the chiller in the room, does the room need an a/c?

Do you use and h202 or anything in the system?

How the heck do we tie down our plants? What do you do?

I'm running a mainly AC Infinity UIS setup. The tent is a CloudLab 866 measuring 60x60x80. I have the header and filter outside of the tent. The only mod to the tent is I had to cut a hole on the side to make the giant return pipe lay flat. Unless your pressed for space, I highly suggest outside the tent. You'll thank me later when it comes to adding chems and cleaning filter. There's no way I could get to them without a pain if it was all inside.

So I started with the chiller in the room, it's a 12x12 room with a single floor AC vent on home central air. The room itself was getting ridiculously warm from the chiller so I drilled some holes and it's now in an unfinished basement. I ran black pond tubing down from the header box and gravity takes it into the chiller. I have an 800gph pump on the outlet of the chiller that pushes the water back up and into the header about 6ft above. The water stays perfect at 66-68F 24/7 now and the room is only 2 degrees above rest of home now.

I don't run any h2o2. I'm currently running Athena chems and I've been using some Great White bio and bacteria mix for root health. I've got a CO2 hanger bag in the tent. I put air filters on the air intakes, and I run the setup like a clean room lab. The chances of something nasty getting in the system are about 0%.

I use a roll of plant ties, and I use the weight of the pot lids to hold down the ties. It worked well. I'm two weeks in from clones and the plants are already ready for flower cycle. No joke, this system is amazing.

Great white huh?
The reps swore up and down to me, NOT to use bennies, said it will clog the filter and all that. And no good for venturis.

So your using Great White anyway. Something i was wanting to do but they advised against it.

I assume youve had no problems with the filter and the Grwst white?

Sorry for the delayed reply. Been a weird time in SW Virginia with the flooding from Helene.

So I'm using a liquid variation called "Orca", it's basically GW but safer for hydro systems as its suspended and not a powder. I've had absolutely no issues with it, and only treated the tank for the clone system and the first two flushes of the veg cycle.

We're switching out to flower cycle this evening, it's been in veg for longer than expected, but I think nutrient lockout was my downfall. I was trying to get away without having to flush the system out 100% weekly, and it was definitely locking out with only 50% exchanges. After flushing the tank to basically dry this past week, the plants have literally exploded in veg cycle.

I've been using the growdoctor guides as a pretty good wiki of what to do/not to do in DWC and so far, we're happy with the results.

Hello,
Thank you for the response. Damn sorry about Helene. Hope all is well on your end from it still.

Orca, yes, i use that now in my standard rdwc systems. I like it.

I will be setting up my alien system after this grow. So im looking at like January sometime to set it up.

I have the 9 pot, 3 row system ill be running. Will be running it in a 10x10.

I got athena pro nutrients ill be using. I was going to use Silica blast too, for silica.
Do you use any silica?

Anyhow, thanks for all the info on how its going for you.

Those Alien systems sure are expensive ($2000 +), I could completely setup a few tents for the cost of those and grow more plants.
I'm sure the equipment is fire, just got a little jaw drop when I seen the cost 😅

IMO, the most expensive thing in your grow space should be your lights ✨

Hello,

You said it correct..." IN YOUR OPINION", the lights should cost the most. Thank you for that, as that is only your opinion.

That said, its not about "what you can build for less" its about the systems we want to buy as consumers.

Anyways, thanks for the non-contribution to this thread?? I guess i would call it that.

P.s., in my setup, with my alien, my lights still cost more than my alien. Does that make you happy, or fit your narrarative?

I wasn't saying anything negative about anyone buying it, I think they look wicked.
$2000+ price tag is going to catch anyone's eye, no matter what the product is.

Was just getting involved in the conversation on this forum where lots of us have fun and talk to each other in multiple threads.

My post was nothing but friendly.
Sorry you took it the wrong way and then thought you had to take a shot at me.

Most of this forum is opinions, that's why we come here.
This thread was even started for Opinions on the Alien System.

Im sorry, i guess i misunderstood.
"They sure are expensive" and "i could setup a few tents for the price of that".

Ok, if not condescending or taunting tgen what is that?

WE know they are expensive, dont need you ro say so, and whats expensive to one person isnt necessarily expensive to another person.

Next, you could build a few tents for that price. Yes, we know, we all could. So what do you mean by that if not "you spent too much"

Im not splitting hairs but your post infers we spent to much and could get more setups for that cost.

Again, cindescending because why does it matter to you how others spend.
Do you go on lambo forums and say "whoa thos are expensive, i could buy many cheaper cars for that". Because if not, then your just being a jerk by doung that in growing forums.

But hey, maybe i took it the wrong way. And if so, sorry. But if not, then...

It does not matter to me what people spend, some of the stuff I've bought others would say why would you do that.

What's expensive to one person may not be to another is absolutely correct.

I've never used the Alien system (or hydro) so I can't personally say if it's worth it.
I want to try hydro and I seen the price of the Alien and was like whoa because it's more then other systems I've seen. It might include more features then other systems and I would actually like to know the advantages of it, one could end up in 1 of my tents.

How you're taking my post is completely out of context but next time I'll make sure to add more so it doesn't get taken the wrong way.
Maybe someone only has 1 grow space and they're thinking of buying the Alien system.
They may decide now that they could buy a new tent setup and grow more plants and in few months and a few more grows under their belt, they can upgrade to the Alien system.
Just gives another path of thought to growers.

I really like grow equipment, especially lights, that's why I said what I did about lights.
My lights actually are not the most expensive piece of equipment I have, wish they were though lol.

I think dwc is just a bucket with something to refresh the water. No company can make the bucket more high tech.
What do you have now airstone and waterfall.and that waterpump spliter to get air from outside.

Ok, sorry bout that then.

I run multiple tents, With that, i run multiple rdwc systems.

For me, its the opposite of what you say. I got many tents, many setups, but im moving towards one main setup, the alien. So i can get away from the multiple tents.

For the new setup, using alien Vsystem, itll be 1 tent setup,

Soo much easier for me to maintain.

Yes alien is spendy, but you know, multiple tents and multiple setups is spendy too.

Im just tired of running multiple tents and all. Trying to condense to one.

I completely understand that, I was 1 tent for so long.
I added another at the beginning of the year and another a couple months ago.
Between my day job, taking care of plants, harvesting, trimming, etc it just about takes away free time in the evenings.
I'm still enjoying myself for the most part but down the road, I could see scaling back again.
