A 200 watt HPS..... OrI know nothing about leds. What is that comparable to in hps terms? I think leds are the future for sure, I'm just not that far into the future yet lol.
But That does not say anything about light efficiency.A 200 watt HPS..... Or

Thanks, I’ll be honest I don’t know how the wattage works.... my output should be 2000w from the twin units so how much in reality are they throwing out.
Are you on LED desert welder? Can you shed any light on my original issue??
Right I’ve been on the website I purchased them from and they draw 240w-280w. Dwelder,, how important is the plant to light distance?
I am running two LED fixtures. But they are top of the line fixtures and are really expensive! My fixtures draw 700 watts from the wall, at full power.
Also what comes from the wall is not necessarily what is delivered to your plants. The efficiency really matters. All lights are different.
LED's are way more efficient than HPS or MH.
Cheers man, I did the hand test and I could of held my hand against the screen all day. There’s so much contradictory info out there and it’s an expensive mistake if you take the wrong advice.You want the plants as close to the light as possible, without burning them. But also the plant needs room to "grow into" the light. So... I use the back of my hand for measuring how hot light is at whatever distance. If it's too hot to hold your hand there, then it's way too hot for a plant to sit there for 12 hours.
Make sure the plant can "grow into" the zone where your hand feels comfortably warm.
They wont. Not to a regular Joe that isnt in the know. That's the thing with LED. You got to build a cob yourself..source the parts or study yer ass off and buy a good one like HLG or yer gonna get juked. Shouldn't have to be a light nerd to get in the alternative to HID growlight world. Hps is king until that all changes. Period.I disagree!

That’s what I have done, from my experience with my LED set up now it has givin me better results than my 600w HPS, healthier looking bushier plants Covered in trichomes. The only downfall is the buds not filling out.Don't ever listen to a salesman. Do your own research and get what you think is best, for your situation and budget!
Your shittin me!! See I only researched BossLED it wasn’t until they arrived and seen a little booklet with 3 names on the cover I realised they was the same manufacturer. My uncle runs HPS and he got the same LED model as me and he had same problem with leafy buds. Thought maybe it was his set up because I had some autos in at the time and they was ok...apart from only a Q From each plant.!!
On that note then I’m gonna go back to HPS and count my losses. Don’t get me wrong these LEDs work well in veg and have pistols as long as my finger nail with trichomes covering each leaf but the final most important bit just isn’t happening...big fat nuggets!!

do you think using a perlite/coco mix in smart pots will help stop the buds being so leafy? They will be getting more oxygen, better drainage and I’ll be able to feed more than once a week?
i do yes, I was lolly popping them and rolling the some of small stuff the branches back. I’ve tried some fimmimg and LST on my nursery to try an SOG approach when they go into flower coz the taller stuff seems to be less covered in tri’s than smaller stuff which made me think that they was too close to the light. My previous HPS was only 600w and could only handle the one in there.Did you do any sort of defoiling at all? I'm growing in coco/perlite in 3 gallon smart pots and mine are still very leafy. Using 3500K Vero29 COB LEDs. My scrog canopy is too thick, to the point not much is getting past it.
Next time I'll be defoiling quite a bit when I get into flower to avoid it.
That being said, you could be seeing issues because you went from a higher wattage of HPS, to a lower wattage of LED. And Tbh, those particular LEDs are pretty... "eh".
