For large pH adjustments, I use Bloom City pH Down, which is also phosphoric acid. When I'm close and just want to make small moves, I use 100% lemon juice for fine tuning. I'm a soil guy, though.

Yup that or dilute your acid with distilled water at 1/4 strength. Always add acid to water never water to acid.

Much respect.... I spent almost every other weekend of my 20's at the wreckers picking out parts for my $200 shit bag cars I drove lol. There are days I miss it but honestly fixing others cars seems like no hassle to this day changing a lightbulb in my own feels like rebuilding a motor. Lmao I hate working on my own shit but they the only thing I hate more is paying someone else to do it. I have new headlights sitting on my table for 2 months now cause wife wanted HID. It's a Chrysler so I have to take the bumper off to get the assembly out to change the bulbs. These things will sit here I promise until one of those fuckers burn out... Just don't tell my wife that lol.

Don't you want to use a $100 test kit?

You are all overcomplicating it. 1 tbsp of vinegar in a gallon will reduce your ph in water. I start around 8 and finish at about 6.5.

Sure it will can you tell us by how much or how long? Good for both hydro and soil?

It's not over complicating it. It's explaining the difference and why some acids are better for certain tasks. I have tried all of them and there are differences and very noticeable ones at that.

I'm betting your in soil because your right vinager will work fine for soil. That does not make it a good option in hydro. It will work in a pinch.

Want an example of this: https://www.thcfarmer.com/threads/help-ph-keeps-going-threw-the-roof.105674/page-5#post-2281685

Some people are content not understanding things and that's ok. But while you think you are giving an informed opinion... You are Infact not.

Since we were talking cars here. It's like putting straight 30 weight or canola oil in a new car and saying oil is oil. No they break down differently and have different properties.

Vinegar breaks down very quickly. It may immediately acidify water or a nute solution but it wont keep acidifying it in the soil.

If it works well through the whole cycle it is likely the source water did not need acidifying and the water and soil buffer are in balance anyway.

Lemon juice is said to be a bit more stable.

I agree with all of your into aqua man. Always choose the correct tool for the job.

Agree 100%. It's the soil makeup that's important for ph. IMO most often (not always) there is no need to ph your nutrients for soil.

Keep it simple use lemons, yes lemons for that qty of water. No need to get exotic.

That's probably why some have some issues with that brand in hydro. I buy straight 85% food grade phosphoric acid and ammonium is not good for hydro also.

Really? "most often (not always) there is no need to ph your nutrients for soil."
the nutrients I use drop the ph substantially like a full point in a gallon of my water to well bellow 6.00 am I wasting my time and money using ph up? and Down I thought ph problems were the root cause of 90% of beginners problems and now you say it doesn't matter in soil? Does Pro-Mix grow medium count as soil? Did I get that in the wrong context?

I'm not a soil grower but yes that's what I'm saying. Unless the buffering capacity (alkalinity) (KH) (carbonates) of the water is enough to change the ph of the soil ... Which can happen over time from high carbonates the soil will adjust the ph of your nutrients. Peat moss lowers ph of soil and stuff like lime increases ph. That's why people build soils using them to balance the soil pH so the soil adjusts the oh of the water.

Also why people don't generally use the same soil more than once unless it re amended.

If you use RO I can guarantee there is no need to ph your nutes.

If you use tap with a low carbonate hardness it's very likely you don't need to ph.

Well water and very hard tap water will likely need to be ph'ed unless you build it to address this.
