I left too many branches. I should have several nicely stacked branches around the outside and a bunch of little ones in the middle. For the small branches especially I tried to remove lower bud sites. It's alright.

I've concluded my basement is just too cold to grow in winter.

HPS is very cheap and makes great buds.

Sure, when I have more space.

End of week 3. Fed today with veg and bloom fertilizer and finished with banana tea (peels I'd been soaking in water in the fridge for a couple days). Added some CaMg to the feed water as now is when that will need to start increasing.

Temperature outside is warming up and now I'm finally able to get tent to 80 degrees. Humidity limited to 50% thereabouts.

They've been too-cold always up till now and had a very log veg cycle. I imagine the root structure is big. In flower I intend to keep temps at the high end in hopes of (finally) rapid growth. I expect 10-11 weeks flowering time.

Still have some spots and crust on just the oldest leaves. Many have been defoliated earlier this week, some I left as a reservoir. I did some super cropping on a few branches and tightened the LST elsewhere. After now the branches will probably start to set.

There are a lot of branches so I'll probably end up with a lot of small nugs. It's alright.

Lights now at 100%. I'll begin to lower them day by day.

Middle of 4th week family photo:

Everything going smoothly. Had some big yellow leaves and dried up dead ones since last time, I pick them off.

Little to no sign of earlier leaf problems. Lights at 100% and I've begun notching them down each time I water which is every 3 days.

Here I was thinking that all of my soil additives would make super plants. Lo, they've stayed as small as I'm used to. I was trying to get a lot of branches but ended up now the canopies are super crowded:

Do you have advice on whether I should remove some of these tops? And when do you think?

I tried to pinch off what I could underneath but there are still larfy buds growing:

I thought maybe I'd defoliate again at week 6 (so I do a week 3 and 6). Should I just go ahead and clear this little stuff out now?

Plain water today (pH'd!!). Plan to phase out veg ferts next. I have FF Tiger Bloom (2-8-4?) for flower. Everybody send to hate it but it's what I got.

Will give some extra CaMg next couple feedings according to this chart:

Edit: only thing to add is I got red ass leaf stems. 3 are at equal progress; the tall one that had the worst leaf problems is furthest along and starting to frost.

Yea I had a bit of dirt left and am growing 1 in a coffee jar for kicks, got more dirt and started spring run, are those autos or photoperiod plants? If autos you really don't want to transplant, if photoperiod plants your off to a good start.

Week 5.

D:

A:

B:

C:

Tent:

I've been notching down the lights as I water. Dimmed a little today because I cut a handful of leaves. Lots of small leaves growing into each other. All the buds that are growing are at the top 50% of the plant height. Plant C looks the best, it had the best vertical growth and now colas have enough room around them. Kind of disappointed in that respect, I did not prune nearly enough before flower.
Smell is of cleaner, rotten fruit, and pine.

Last day of 5th week. Plant D has developed pollen sacs. These show only on the top-most buds. My guess is lights were too close.

Backed the lights off a few inches and removed what I saw with tweezers. Some sites might have been pollinated near the ballsacs or maybe I was rough. I try to pull out the banana by the base and err on annihilating the site where it sprouted.

It's windy in the tent so I hope it doesn't spread pollen. These are feminized seeds. I'll check it again tomorrow.

Definitely wishing I removed more branches. At this point, some areas are very dense with growth. Considering making fresh frozen bubble hash with all these little nugs I'll get.

Into 6th week.

The one in the back has the best looking colas, obviously because each one has more space. The one in the foreground had nanners the other day. Found a small one again yesterday but that's all. I'm letting it run. (Strangely it also has the most white hairs?)

Something changed with the white balance, who knows. These 2 are super dense, I have my strong fan pointing at their canopies for air exchange.

Looks like I'll get a handful of nugs and the rest will be used for a bubble run.

Do you think I should defoliate once again? I'm leaving towards no. There are a TON of tiny leaves growing into each other, I don't think the leaves will grow that much more.

Pictures from the end of 7th week.

A:

This one has the most seeds I think.

B:

This one also has a handful of pregnant buds

C:

This is has the best looking buds but the worst looking leaves.

D:

This is the one that had nanners a while ago. Have picked off the odd 5 or so last couple inspections. Nanners aren't rampant but still. This one has the most brown hairs and probably the best leaves.

Hard to get good pictures due to lighting

Some of the leaves were clawing down but I suspect that was because the fan was blowing there. I think the leaf problems are due to incorrect (low) pH at roots. All plants given the same regime. Next time trying a different soil.

Temperatures in the tent are still low. Lame

Week 9 day 3. Fall colors. At least another week to go. Fertilized today, I guess I didn't realize how late it was. Maybe I'll start to flush, maybe not. What would Brian boitano do?

A week later. Into the 10th week since I flipped the light schedule. I've begun flushing. Leaves are dying off but still a lot of clear trychones.

Week 11 day 3 since I flipped the lights. Gave plain pH'ed today and last 2 weeks. I split all 4 main stems at the base and the gouge is being held open by bamboo skewers. This is meant to increase the gooch. I've been plucking off dead leaves that come off easily and cutting some here and there.

This one has the most yellow leaves with dead tips but still attached firmly. It has the most seeds, but not too many.

This one is a very dark almost chocolate color from above. It's the one with pollen sacs. This is after removing a lot of the dead or useless stuff.

Small buds but good color.

This one is the crystaliest. Maybe I dunno.

I think I just gave the last water and will put in the dark at the end of the week.

This was an extremely long grow. We'll see if the extra time paid off. The smell is enough to make you wanna barf. I got some different seeds.

I think next time I'm not gonna train as much, focus on much fewer tops, and maybe grow in cocoa.

Cut down 12 days ago. Longish flush. I'm about to ask a question about high humidity. Still a little damp.

5 1/2 damn months.
Total a little more than 7 oz., but I trimmed as little as possible.

Luckily only 2 plants were seeded, and not bad at that. On some, lower bud sites, I found bunches of nanners that had formed. I think this was due to leaving them in the dark for 3 days at the end. Next time I'm not going to do that.

Plant D, problem child, had one constricted area while drying. There was a red stripe/patch in one section, opening the base of the bud showed very faint white mold, looks like a spiders nest. No bad smell. Threw that part out.

Hopefully by allowing literally every step in this process a long ass time I'll get some good flavour.

  • Lessons learned:
  • I hate trimming
  • Next time I'm lollipooping to the max
  • Also going to use coco probably
  • Keep the room warm
  • I think don't try a long veg unless you have very powerful lights
What do you think?
