Hi everyone,
Knew to the farm, I'd like to share my grow with you :D
I got 5 chemdog seeds by Greenhouse seeds - $33 Delivered
4x4x7ft Mylar Grow Tent - $139 (not incl. shipping)
400w HPS Growlush Light setup $120 Delivered
150mm Ezi Centrifugal Fan $150

The plants spent the 2 first weeks outdoors until I got my tent all setup.
Ran into nitrogen deficiency which was remedied with some fish emulsion ferts.

I still wasn't happy with the rate they were growing at, so I transplanted into bigger pots using coco coir. I put a layer of clay balls on top to keep the creepy-crawlies out, as my soil had lots of bugs lol. I did make a few mistakes in the beginning with over/undernuting and ph, but I know how to do it all now lol

One plant is showing severe nute burn. I should flush it. Plain PH'd water? Or just a weaker nute solution? Do I need to wait for it to dry out before flushing? I don't really think it would matter when flushing, but I'd like to get an answer first. Being impulsive and doing things before I got replies on other forums is how I made most of my mistakes lol
The other plants are fine, some with very minor curling.

It's amazing the growth spurt since switching to coco, even with all the mistakes i made lol

Here's some canna porn for ya's :D

I'm open to any tips, comments, suggestions, criticisms and feedback.

Cheers
MagickZX

My plants have been in coco for exactly a week today.
Also upgraded my lighting to a cooltube. Bought a carbon filter as well but have yet to install it.

Most of my plants have a slight curling, but two of them seem out of control (plants number 2 & 5).
Anyone know what it is? Someone told me it may be heat stress, which is why I put the cooltube in.

The temp in my tent today still reached 31oC with the cooltube(was a hot day today). I thought my 150mm centrifugal would be enough :( I think there are too many ports/vents open. This tent has to many vents IMO. Will go at it tomorrow with some duct tape to try and get some better air circulation.
Till then, I've raised my lights.

Added a cooltube and a carbon filter. Also sealed up 5 vents leaving only one open for intake, which is helping with the heat.

Plants have been in coco for just over a week. Here are some photo's

I was told the curling was due to heat stress. Now that I have my cooltube running properly, will the twisted plants repair themselves? Or will they have the curled, twisted look they have now?
I am thinking of culling plants 2 and 5 since they seem to be the worst.
Should I let them go to flower?

I wouldnt go into flowering right now if I were you bro, you at least need to let them get up to 15" no less than 12" before you flipped them. IMO youre plants are too small to be flipped, bend youre plants and tie them down. You only have five plants in there and trust me you will be mad with yourself if you flip them now, you gotta maximize the space you have. Flipping now you will probably end up with bout 5 to 6 zips, bending and training prob another month in veg and you could come out with bout 10 to 15 zips. Its up to you what you want. And that leaf curl I doubt is due to heat because I have my light (400) about 5" above my plants bare-bulb and 600 bare-bulb in the middle of my plants with a fan on it thats about 6" away. Make sure your room isnt getting too hot and check that PH I think that's were youre problem lies.

What's the best way to check the ph? Water the plant and check the runoff with my PH meter?

I would back that light up aways . As far as ph goes I would check the ph before you water then check the ph of your runoff. If theres a drastic change the make the proper change. I run the canna coco and 5.8 -6.1 goes in everytime and ive never had ph issues.

Ok thanks. I will check it out tonight.
Thanks fellas. For almost over 2 weeks noon at the other forum could tell me anything except it was heatstress.

How do I adjust the ph? Say it's way off, 6.8. Do I just flood it with correctly ph'd water? Or should I use a ph lower to adjust it.
Does that make sense?
Thanks

On a happier
Note, I think I've got my temp issues sorted out. After closing up 5 vents/ports and only one open for intake, the tent is much cooler. Temps outside are over 30oc today. I called home and my bro told me the tent was sitting at 27o.
The lights are off, but on other days with similar temps the tent was around 30o with lights off

If you put 5.8 in and 6.8 is coming out I would just flush heavily with 5.8 nute solution. Maybe use like 5.4 but I wouldnt go any lower .what are you feeding them?

At the moment they are being fed with nutrifield coco.
I'm feeding the veg dose.
1.6 EC I think it is.
Last time I watered my ph was 5.6. It was 5.6 as before I got my ph meter my first watering was at 6.8 I think

I havnt used that line before sorry cant help with that one. With the canna a and b 1.0 ec is plenty for vegging large bushes.

Vegging dose on nutrifield coco is 1.2-1.6. My last feed was 1.6, the feed before was 1.2

i would be giveng those plants half strength of recomended dose on ur nute bottle. make sure ur ph is about 5.8-6.0 after u mix it all up. do this every time u feed or just water always ph 5.8-6.0 and ur plants will thank u. Also let ur coco dry out in between waterings if not already. and when u notice ur plants are getting healthier u can up ur nute dose slowly.....trust me less is better. nute company's always recomend more than needed on there bottles so u go thru the bottle faster and go buy more...i always start 1/2 strength and sometimes a third strength of printed dose on bottles and up the dose a lil slowly. just watch ur plants and u will learn to read em and u will notice if they want more or less nutes...
we'll help just keep us updated bro.
peace bro

I thought I had my heat problem fixed. But when I came home the tent was 33c, lights had probably been on for 2 hours, while the lights were off it was getting a temp of about 27. I'm gonna adjust my light cycle to switch off later. from 2pm-8pm, that way it should start to get cooler by the time it switches lights on.
Anyone from australia can recommend the best light cycle time for summer?

I will also try and seal my window shut.
The window is open enough so the ducting can go out the window, I might try sealing the rest of it off with cardboard and duct-tape

I'm gonna try 9pm-3pm. Hopefully it will work out better as 9pm is when it starts to cool these days.
