Mass Bill S1808 Update An Act to Regulate and Tax the Cannabis Industry

On Tuesday, March 2, 2010, at 1:00 PM in Room A-1 at the Statehouse in Boston, the Joint Committee on Judiciary in the Massachusetts legislature will hold a public hearing on the bill known as S1801, An Act to Regulate and Tax the Cannabis Industry. If passed, the new law would repeal existing marijuana prohibition laws at the state level and replace them with a system of regulation and taxation, similar to how wine is sold. The law, in fact, is largely modeled after the alcohol control laws.

$150-$250 an OZ tax??? do these people WANT cannabis to remain in the black market?? that's insulting. They should just put a percentage tax on it, say an extra 3-5% on top of sales tax. read this law in it's entirety before giving an ounce of support, it's pretty absurd. grow license costs $500, to be renewed annually. Don't want to buy an oz plus $150-$250 tax at a time? TOO BAD cannabis will only be sold in one ounce packages. psh whaaatever good luck with that Massachusetts..

nah it would be considered a specialty plant like tobacco there not taxing the plant but the dried flowers thats consumable there gonna hit as long as we get it legal then we got two feet to stand on in which because its legal we would be able to fight the tax price because they cant tax you unreasonably with out showing just cause [thats why we have c-span]:anim_09::anim_09::anim_09::anim_09:
