Just wondering if anyone has any experience with MasterBlend in a hydroponic system? I'll be running s 3 part "system", not really a system, fert 4-18-38 / calcium nitrate 15.5-0-0 / epsom salt.

Any experience with ratios and charts out there is appreciate some advice.

Just a note to point out that when you mix the masterblend, calcinit and epsom together as a dry mix, the final N-P2O5-K2O grade is not 20-18-38.

It is more like 7.8% nitrogen, 7.2% P2O5 and 15.2% K2O.

1.6 units of 4-18-38 = 6.4 - 28.8 - 60.8
1.6 units of 15.5-0-0= 24.8 - 0 - 0
0.8 units of 0-0-0 = 0 - 0 - 0
sum them= 31.2-28.8-60.8
divide each by the total number of units(4)

yields a final mixture with 7.8% N - 7.2% P2O5 - 15.2% K2O

Any idea on ratios and ppm numbers? I've been reading about it and been seeing large number around 2.0EC and higher. I assume that's off by a bit but who knows when you switch around.

I found this but you can find anything online.

12gms fert, 12gms cal nit, 6gms epsom per 5 gallons.

1200ppm seedling
1500ppm vegetation
1700ppm flower

Seems a bit high?

Changed out the solution and decided to try the Masterblend, Calcium Nitrate and Epsom Salt. Has a nice clear Sprite bottle color to it when mixed with water and no smell at all.

I ended up using,
12grams Masterblend,
12grams Calcium Nitrate,
6grams Epsom Salt,
per 5 gallons,
ended with 600ppm or 1.2ec.

Just thought I'd update the numbers since my numbers ended up being wrong last post.

I used masterblend at beginning of r flower at 1000ppm and it burn the shit out of my girls.

Just completed several girls using masterblend. It was a nervous few months but over all turned out well. Some plants did receive the tomato mix of this set of nutes in the beginning. That seemed a bit heavy though most strains tolerated it. It seems each strain liked something different. For instance SLH doesn't like anything over a 20-25% mix of masterblend. RQS Critical suffered unless we kept it near a 65% mix. During Flower I've run 75% of masterblend recommended nutes, [totally ignored the recommendation and gave the same amount of ep salt], Cut cal-nit down to 55% of the recommended mix. Both RQS Critical and Amnesia Haze loved this. 8 ball is doing ok with it but it has a ways to go before the verdict is in on 8 Ball. We'll be throwing in some Blue Dream and Pineapple Express. I am relatively new at growing my own medicine so if anyone has recommendations or critique it would be appreciated.

I'm growing Gelato this go and I started at 12g mix/12g calnit/6g Epsom and gets you around 1.2ec. I started at 1.2 for my 5 inch clones and went up relatively quickly through my nearly 2 months to a total of 2.2ec.

With this setup my girls do very well and lower the EC by .1 per day. At the same time my ph rises by .1 per day and my 8 girls drink above 5 gallons per day. With my limited experience that's a pretty perfect readout of variables in hydro.

Iam not the sartest in mathematic... Is it possible if you could explain it a little bit more in a way i might understand😆 like what do you mean with u its? Is it like grams?

Best you can get with those 3 nutes is 2:1:2.5ish which is pretty close to desirable. Mix 2-2-1.6 per gal (also have to consider starting water PPM and the P from PH down)

Also P205 & K20 arent going to be a good measure when figuring out nutes since those aren't the plant available numbers. Plants can't absorb P205 or K20.

%P=%P205 x0.437
%K=%K20x0.826

Have to use the above to fig out the actual level or DL something like below that will do it for you or use excel.

My tap water is 100 PPM

I mix it as directed for 1 gallon using 2.4/1.2/ 2.4 grams ( Master Blend, Epsom salt, calcium nitrate respectively), it gives me a total of 870 PPM

Masterblend and Jack's Classic Hydro are great. They mimic tissue samples of what the plant actually consumes. Because of that perfect ratio, this fertilizer gets monster growth and better phenotype expression. I run 500 ppm in hydro, 750 in coco and dirt. If you get N tox leaf curl towards the middle/end of flower, do a flush or just scale back the total ppm.

Another reason I love this site, the guy who started this thread is no longer around these parts but here we are.

Okay, I'm running coco/MasterBlend, first grow. I'm 6-8 weeks from harvest. I'm still mixing the basic MasterBlend 3 parts as I was in veg. Any thoughts on a flower blend? I'm staying with the MasterBlend but thinking of scaling back on the cal/mag.

Hi 😃 I would start to phase out the calcium nitrate soon. I find plants start to develop N toxicity if you keep on feeding the calcium nitrate in flower. But since you’re eliminating the calcium source, you need to keep feeding cal mag through the rest of flower.

In flower, I feed 1/4 teaspoon tomato and veg and 2.5-3ml of cal-mag per gallon each feed. Twice a week I add in a bloom booster (mono potassium phosphate).

I've never had an N tox in flower with Masterblend. I like 3 grams MB, 2 grams cal nit flower week 1-5. Week 6 is 3.6 grams MB, 2 grams cal nit. Week 7+ is 3.6 grams MB, 1.66 cal nit.

If you're adding MKP, I'm surprised you're not locking out magnesium with all that potassium.
