I was threatened with gun and drug charges, turns out it doesn't really matter if your guns are locked, unloaded, and not readily usable in a home invasion scenario.

And it's not just guns, it's anything that can be used as a deadly weapon... including kitchen knives and baseball bats, depending on where they are stored. Any of these "weapons" in your grow or outside the door where your grow or any significant amount of cash is kept is considered protecting your drug operation with a deadly weapon, and the result is you being fucked.

Yes, state... and no conviction, they just used it to negotiate a deal and keep me from fighting it... they were already on shaky ground so no conviction for the grow either. But the mandatory minimum sentence could have been 8 yrs, which is scary and people really need to understand the law... as I said it's not just guns, it's anything that could be considered a deadly weapon.

Saw in the Post today that banks will no longer accept dispensary's. The owner of a dispensary in the Springs said that he will just have to start operating as a cash only business. He said he was going to get a bigger safe and apply for a permit to carry a gun because of the cash he would now be dealing with. How???

Despensaries must hire a third party security company in order to get around it, the security company then would have personel liscensed to carry and shoot it out with the bad guys....there are a few well armed ninjas in a few despensaries that I know of..

I think the Post misquoted the dispensary owner. The owner probably indicated that the gun was for personal protection outside of the dispensary. You can't mix Marijuana and firearms.. feds don't much like that.

Banks will still let you have a large safe deposit box, so it's not like there will be huge piles of cash laying around dispensaries. Not that there were huge piles of profits anyways.

So I am a bit confused as how this law applies. Hypothetically speaking I am a care giver, and I own firearms. The firearms are all stored off premise from my grows and I do not have a Concealed carry permit. Am I in violation of this law?

Honestly I am pretty sure the feds are not fucking with small time grows considering all they need to do is pick up a phone book to find a ton of dispensaries to bust. That was also a good point earlier not to leave ammo or gun cleaning kits around (I need to clean up my hypothetical home.)

Also I wanted to mention that the form that you fill out when purchasing a firearm asks if you are an unlawful user of or addicted to any illeagle drugs. Seems a bit grey to me.

Federal siezure warrants will include your safety deposit box as well as your bank accounts....

If they are not stored at your grow location, you should be ok... AFAIK...
