I started top dressing with DE to combat the gnats from bagged soil. Since switching from FFOF to BioBizz Light Mix I haven’t had any issues at all. I use a magnifying glass to check my soil every few days. With FFOF I always had a few flying around now I haven’t seen any in months. Knock on wood.

I had great crops for a couple years despite my sticky traps looking like this after hanging for about a week... They really got out of hand near the end.

I am far from panicking bro. My yellow card had one gnat after a week.

Now springtails are plentiful as long as i use ammended soil. With pro mix i had none. Even right next to a pot with ocean forest.

I just poured in 2 cups of bt water into 4 plants. 2 had a couple flyers last time. Didnt see any yet this time. Still have to feed them yet.

I used to do that but stopped years ago. I hate that powdery stuff. That and perlite. Lol. But it is a good measure to stop the bugs.

It’s not bad if you just use some when transplanting and wait a few days then water it in. Just can’t have a fan blowing on it is all. I’m like you I don’t want chemicals near my plants. But unlike you I use methods that work. Lol kidding. Besides you said my plants suck, ha!

It takes a LOT of fungus gnats before they become an issue. And even then it's just a trimming issue because they stick to the buds, they dont really hurt the plants.
I agree, but what they do is if you have one sick plant with crappy roots then you get a root disease and those little bastards will spread it to all the plants in your room by the time flowering is over.
Not really a big problem for soil but coco it can get nasty real quick.

Decided to let blt 4 go a bit longer. Giving light feed to help green her up a bit.

Aroma x BLT 7 was ready for her 3 gallon transplant tonight.

Percect timing on my opinion. Pot is dense with roots and only a little circling going on.

Getting watered in with unadjusted well water. Even if you need to ph its good to water with tap for the buffer while the lime activates the first week.

Pro Mix recomends this on their website for initial plantings.

Finished watering runoff collected and plant basically stress free and still growing. She wanted full light right away.

I took 4 cuttings from the toxic Blue 33 plant. The 4 lowest branches. I just put them in a glass of well water. I will document their progress. It took 2-3 weeks for roots to show last time. I just left them alone and changed the water every few days.

She is a real fast grower so seemed like a good candidate. :-)

Watch out for herms. a couple of male flowers make for a lot of seeds. I loved the idea that I never knew what was coming with growing new seeds. I had 1 new from seed plant herm and ruined my cycle. Never again. i made a small test area for when i try anything new.

Thought i would show how OCD i am. Lol.

I cut the bottoms of my 18oz. Party cups for seedlings like a nursery pot for the drainage holes. Seems to work very well so i keep cutting all the different dollar store cups up like this.

WTF!!!!! thats a great idea. Why didn't I thnk of that 1st. Gives you little tabs like feet so the bottom of the cup doesn't sit in stagnate pooled runoff. Cool idea bro.

Some of these show late nanners while ripening but i just pick them off and have only ever seen a few seeds.

But a Medical Seeds sour diesel plant hermied bad and pollinated itself and another plant. Tons of seeds resulted.

Bent and tied down the Citral Pow33 x Greenbud. She is from a seed from my first accidental pollination. Lol.

Here are pics of my method.

CP x GB 1. When they reach my 18” from the lamp marker i bend them down. The plant is about 30” tall.

Attach binder clips to where she will be tied down and opposite of it to brace plant main stem and stop it from pulling the roots out.

I thought you guys were going to tell me what a waste of time cutting the cups is. And to use a soldering iron or a cigarette to poke holes in a bunch of them at once like most growers.

The drainage is excellent the way they are. :-)
