FoxFarm used to have its own humus deposits that it got soil from. It was depleted several years ago.
Inconsistency with their soil began when they started outsourcing everything and mixing it up.

Ya, until recently I had not bought a bag in a while (been using roots). And the bag that I just purchased a few weeks ago seams to have a ton more wood chips/mulch in the mix compared to when I used FF on the regular a few years back. I don't think I will be buying ocean forest or FF soil at all. I do like their bigbloom though.....

I'm wondering the same.

I really hope not, Fox Farm has decent products for cannabis and if they sell out to Scotts it will give those Miracle Gro making ass holes a way to penetrate the cannabis industry without many growers even knowing it. I will NEVER buy Fox Farm products if they sell out (I probably wouldn't buy there stuff if they didn't sell out anyways). I've moved on to better things.

Ya, Im pretty sure I have read that Monsanto/scotts did purchase them! They were talking about getting into the medical cannabis industry for the past few years.

you guys realize scotts has the buying power to snatch up every single nute company, every dirt company, and most likely every hydro store in the entire world? This is a multinational Fortune 1000 company that supplies ag giants and superchain garden stores.

If they wanted to enter the industry, they wouldn't buy out fox farm. they'd completely collapse the sales of hydro nutes and begin marketing of their own brands. And it would happen FAST. it wouldn't be a 5 year old internet rumor. I know for a fact there is state licensing in CO for a Monsanto-funded hemp research center. square miles of research center. They have absolutely no interest in being involved with consumer sales of MMJ fertilizers...they don't want you growing it at all.
When the rug gets pulled out from under, and this industry becomes formalized, it's far more likely the independent nutrient/soil companies are going to try to sell their businesses themselves, and be completely ignored.

Majestic12, why do you lie? Who hurt you? Why is this your mission? FoxFarms makes really good stuff, it works, we get results -- we grow a better product. If you don't have proof that it was bought or sold, why do you want proof it wasn't? Guilty until proven innocent??
Back off. I love my Ocean Forest.

I am pretty sure they bought Dr. Earth though...I see it now everywhere, Walmart, Target, Home Depot...takes that Scott's/Monsanto stroke to make that happen overnite

Scott's has entered the mmj world. Google Whitney Farms. Look at the website for discount hydro and check out all the Scott's and Whitney farms products they're carrying.

$2.8 billion in annual sales...lol...they might have a little stroke in the game. At least Whitney Farms carries just about everything ya need for soil ammendments

The Chairman Jim Hagerdon or whatever his name is said tat they wanted to buy an existing companies that was already active in the MJ industry....

Both Monsanto and Scotts are publicly traded I believe so the info is out there if its a done deal

No fucking way does the revenue of Scotts "tower over" the revenue stream of the entire MMJ industry- the realized income through Hydro stores maybe, but MMJ in all its guises is the largest revenue producing, most profitable crop in the country. Corn isn't even close. THAT is why the big boys are here to play... Our 'little' industry will never be the same, God help us- and save us from BT pot!

It may be the most profitable cash crop when sold but isn't even remotely close to what the non marijuana agriculturual industry consumes each year in pesticides and fertilizers...there is alot of info out there about it but MJ only accounts for something in the lower single digit percentages of use against mainstream AG use. I mean just the Califonia grape industry used almost 17 million lbs of just sulphur alone, thats just grapes, just one state, and thats just sulphur..see what Im sayin? commercial agriculture uses staggering amounts of products and chemicals from the large nutrient companies not some piss ant MJ nute producer. 2.8 billion in sales for just Scotts, that makes all MJ nute guys look like shade tree bottom feeders, even if they combined their efforts they wouldn't even be a pimple on their ass . I think AN barely did 30 million in it's best year but generally around 20 million. General Hydroponics will only do around 16 million this year and those are probably the two biggest in our industry and they don't even do 1% of what Scott's does and that is mainly their direct home consumer sales, when you kick in their commercial sales it gets real silly.

MJ may be profitable to grow and sell but it cost a fortune to seed and maintain a large scale food crop...cost per acre in seed, fertilizer, and pest control is off the charts...they buy there stuff in train container loads and haz mat trucks loads...those anhydrous trailers ya see everywhere aren't even cheap....none of these cats are buying at the local grow store for sure and more than likely the bulk suppliers they get their stuff from, you have never heard of and probably the smallest one of them is bigger than the largest company in the MMJ industry

The cost per acre to grow conventional crops in the US is quite high

My brother inlaw farms about 40,000 acres conventionally in the midwest
He grows GMO Corn , Soybeans and Hard Red Winter Wheat
His seed,fertilizer, pesticide and herbicide overhead is ridiculous........
And that's all before he pays for diesel,combines ,grain trucks, tractors and equipment.......

Modern agribusiness is dominated by International conglomerates like Monsanto,Cargill,John Deere and ADM just to mention a few

The MMJ industry is quite small when compared to these companies

I see where ttystikk is coming from, when you compare the entire AG business, yeah its way bigger then just MJ, especially considering at least 90% of it is illegal and unaccounted for. But if you look at the actual estimate of how much cannabis is actually sold and bought across the US, then compare that to any other one single crop, the cannabis market is bigger, billions of dollars bigger.

ADM is a moster $88 billion in sales this year alone and increasing with the quickness.Cargill did $134 billion, hell, they could buy Scott's with petty cash...Monsanto was only $10 or so billion in sales..John Deere did roughly $36 billion in sales...its just a completely different scale than most can comprehend...big money goes around the world, big money underground, big money got a mighty voice..well you know the rest...lol
