I really like this post, albeit I don't agree entirely, I do like the tone of the post. Unfortunately, I pay a lot in taxes primarily because when I owned a dispensary I filed with the 280e tax code provision in mind which only allows for cog (costs of goods) to be deducted and I am taxed on everything else like it is profit. As far as paying taxes go, while there is no institution on earth more in need of a business consultant and financial accountability than our gov, I appreciate the roads I drive on, skys I fly upon, protection from other countries who would love to impose real slavery upon us, the social programs that are needed for those that are unable to work, healthcare, education etc.. I enjoy being apart of society and agree that taxation is necessary under our current system and honestly I am happy to contribute.

I dislike when people, and I am not referring to you Mendel as I know very little about you, who do not pay taxes but bitch and moan about the tax system. I mean if you don't pay taxes then why be bothered by what is getting done with the money? On the other hand if you contribute to the tax pool, it is only logical that one could have legitimate complaints about what is getting done or not getting done with the money.

As long as the folks who do not pay in are >permanently< excluded from receiving >>>any<<< Gov't assistance/loans/student loans/FEMA/SS/Medicare/unemployment/food stamps/etc...etc..etc...FOR LIFE... I could care less if they pay taxes or not.

My worry is 20 years down the road when they become disabled/sick/injured/etc..etc..etc. or things go to shit for them otherwise. How many folks living this way now...with nothing...out of some sort of spite....will have any means/etc to support themselves later? Should we care @ that point if they can't?

I have paid my own way since the age of 14 when all that it took was the will to work and jobs were plentiful and "Skill" demanded A premium price. Paid taxes All Along the Way, No questions asked, like A Fool. I still do so today, (pay my own way) don't need no Stinking Obama Care (Have Aflac) or your Welfare or Unemployment, Student Loans that I can't repay... None of it. I Never have. I sustain Myself. What I earn determines How I Live and I'm the bad guy here? Things are different now and those that don't adapt will lose the lifestyle they are accustomed to or everything all together if they do not... Take A look around you. The national rate of Unemployed? Foreclosed? Anybody you know or care about? Probably not, because the only thing that matters to the self righteous is they are paying their fair share of tax... and that lets you sleep at night. Well don't that just make you an "Outstanding" human being and A pillar of society... What A Joke!

People that legally change the way they earn money and therefore the rate they are taxed because our government continues to use that which is "Taken" (Yeah, I quoted "Taken" because it is my adjective) for other agendas than that which some are happy (And -O- so Proud) to pay exorbitant taxation for have just as much right to complain about taxation as anybody else. Why do you think I changed the "Effective Tax Rate" I pay? I'll tell you why, because some are to dumbed down to know... Because I do not agree with the system of Government, How it is managed and or taxes are spent and actually "Did" something about it unlike others that just accept things as they are and do absolutely nothing. What would You suggest? A strongly worded letter to Pres. Obama asking him to stop blowing tax payer money? Any of you Happy to pay Taxes because... rocket scientists ever hear of Protest of A Corrupt System through action? If all the pay whatever they ask people... didn't pay whatever they ask, literally, you would see immediate change within the government that people wish to see. Problem is people just don't have the balls and just lay down and go with the flow. Nothing changes because of these very People / Sheep. It's all about money, the money they take from you to pay for the life style of those that are your voice. The voice of the people. Don't believe it. Look at real estate sales, prices and foreclosure in Washington DC and nearby states. Highest $$$ for housing in the country, foreclosure, Lowest. Why, because once they get there, they don't leave. Look at the lifestyle there and you will see where your tax dollar is going...

Check out Monex Precious Metals... They're local to Ca. I started in 09 @ $13 per oz. when I was heavy into cultivation. Exchanged over priced Kron $$$ for Silver. Skyrocketed in 2011 Obama administration but I stayed in. Silver trend $$$ is heading down again and inflation and Us currency is in big trouble. I'm looking for $20 per oz. to pull the trigger again. Current economic issues of today "Guarantee" the price will rise with more economic issues plaguing the U.S. and Europe it is just A matter of time. I Buy by the Kilo. You can take delivery or they hold. Mine is held / stored by Monex. Trade for cash any time for current market value... Currently @ about $28 per oz. so I'm roughly 75k right now... Not retirement yet but I'm not done yet either. Since you asked how we are doing ...on equivalent terms, in silver, we sit debt-free @ the 5000 >pound< mark right now. (not working in ounces, bro) Hopefully we can scrape by on that small pittance when we start giving retirement a shot in a couple of years, but hey, WTF do I know? :wideyed:

tty I will only say that while homeland security was the single biggest grab at personal freedom of the citizens of this country since the internment camps off WWII.we must keep in mind that this started a hundred years+ ago with a movement toward a single gov. and a single standard of living. social security, welfare, both personal and coorporate, EIC, food stamps, the list goes on and on. These are all apples of the forbidden tree if you will. one bite and the gig is up! we have been so slowly enveloped into a nanny state that most people don't even realize what they get is WELFARE and it is not theirs to begin with. Anyone who believes for a minute that our gov. will not seize your asset's just to give sell or otherwise redistribute them is not been paying attention. we have in the past , "gold and silver turn in for paper",sound familiar. personal property will continue to come under attack more readily as we give up our rights to firearms out of a perverse expectation of security. the only security and safety one deserves is that which is earned and the way in which freedom from government tyranny is insured is for her people to continually insure the BEAST stays tamed. unfortunately we as a people have been lazy on this front and allowed our BEAST to get out of control.
Don't be fooled be the budget cuts they say will happen. these are only cuts in the increase of spending no one has yet had the balls to even stop all the regular schedule of increases, just to slow them down a trickle. this is not a true cut it is however still an increase in spending by a goverment that already has a real debt problem.
Unfortunately for those of us that think past our own short time here this is unsustainable and will end badly.

Would not trade this lifestyle for all the riches in the world.
We have paid our share of federal taxes, soc. security over the many years of working jobs in the rat race, now were crusin along on the fruits of our labor.....and looking forward to my soc. security pension, but could live without it...

Milk goats, feed orphan kids and chickens, deliver eggs, three cases of 24 dozen in the hot rod, hit the river for a few casts, back to farm, collect 40 dozen eggs, then must move 300 chickens from winter residence in greenhouse to barn, easy and fun day, work, eat, fish.
Life is good for the Chickenman......

Ditto. I'm following you down the same road right behind you and Sky. I have everything I need and I even have abundance in some things that I avidly share with others who are challenged and do not. I still like the word "we" more than "me" when it comes to my reach in any circle. I believe generosity, sincere benevolence in spirit, and richness in integrity are the only things I get to leave and take with me at the same time when I pass on.
