More noobie bud rot questions

This bud's coloring looked bad. I think it was bud rot.
So I picked off the nodule of brown. The last picture shows its stub.
Should I cut and discard the remaining bud?

First time I saw it.

yup I would take some additional, you can not see spores so I always presume they have dropped below the point where I see the infection beginning. This is difficult for new growers but be a bit more aggresive with your removal of funk than you want to be, it is better to get less than none. You may be near harvest of this plant so do the lessons learned thing and think on where you want to be with next years grow, this in a greenhouse?
Back in the day I lost entire plants in 24 hours due to not stopping the spore spread effectively and the reported resistance to mold / fungus has become a significant part of my criteria for seed selection

Still mold on the stem! And keep your eyes open for caterpillars when you’re digging into the mold! It’s nice to know whether it is cat caused or environment caused!

Yeah, it is painful to cut off more... but will do.
Not a traditional greenhouse. Just a makeshift cover so a lot of air blows through. Plus I have fans.
Humidity seems to be high more often than not, this year.

Cat caused mold? I don't have cats but my neighbor's cats are always a pain in my A$$. Never seen them in/near my grow box but wouldn't be surprised if they walked through it.

No! Caterpillars will burrow into your bud and cause mold! I would feel a lot more comfortable, taking a plant another couple of weeks with cat caused mold than with environmental cause mold!
