With a hlg-185h
Can I run a odd number of cobs
Or
Do I have to run even number of cobs??
With this driver I just thought I could run my two 3070's and one 3590.
That would make the 3 cobs run at about 68 watts each well below their max wattage but oosing a bit of effecny, but giveing me the 200 watts I'm looking to get for my grow area
the way to figure out how many watts your cob's will run at is to multiply what ever volts you are running so say you are running a 36v 3590 @ 2.1a/2100ma
that is 36•2.1=75.6watts.....if you are running @1.4a it would be 50.4watts and so on
if you are only running say 3 cobs and the driver can run 4 then you will only be running 3/4 the watts the driver can run max ....the extra watts dont get dispersed to the remaining cobs....it is just not being used

the 185H drivers only provide 200W max. If you have four cobs that is 50w each. V * A = W 36v x 1.4 A = 49W/cob four cobs 200 w. The Vf determines how many cobs you can run. The driver has a forward voltage allowance. When that is met, no more power. A C1400B can run only four, a 250w driver can run five. That would be perhaps a HLG-240H-C1400B perhaps. I do not have the data sheets in front of me, but if you have 250w available you can install an odd number of cobs, otherwise it is an even number. If you run less than the max you are not being efficient, and wasting power. peace

Hi
Thanks everyone for their help.
I searched though TONS of forum posts ( lots of those threads are so long it's impossible to assimilate all the info) and somehow could not find the answers.
Y'all splained it so even I can understand it. Makes sense that it's not efficient to run it the way I thought.
Now to get hold of Jerry @ King bright!!
I will run 4 cobs ( my initial thought).
Cost more up front but better efficiency.
I really appreciate it and hope this helps out others...
@REALSTYLES
That's funny
My next run will be a water only easy organic soil mix also. (1/2 the cab)
Been cooking for over a month.
Thanks agian all!!!
