Im very interested in moving out west and setting up a legal grow from my research it seems that laws differ from county to county. I wanna do this as a career its the only thing i have ever enjoyed doing. My question is are the dispensaries buying, would selling to them be the best way to go? i have tried doing research thru google and various forums but theres so much crap mixed in with the good info its hard to figure out whats the truth. What county's should i look into moving too, is it even possable for someone coming into the game this late to get a fair shot, are there any lawyers that you guys would recemend talking too? I know im forgetting alot of things here but i appreciate any advise you guys can pass on.

California is overrun with grows, growers and those who hustle them. IMHO, find another state, one that isn't already oversaturated. Maybe a recent medical state?

Doesn't matter if Cali is overrun.
Make sure your herb is the best and itll sell
Backed up courts, jail overcrowding, shrinking police budgets, and a general acceptance of mmj make Cali one of the safest places to grow

Id make sure you have a backup plan to unload your herb. Dispensaries can be hard to sell to if you don't have a foot in the door already. Weedmaps delivery listings are dirt cheap(used to be free) or you can always ship back home

I am in Cali and the MMJ business is booming and will continue to boom. If you have great quality meds it will sell. The problem is just as the post says that there are 1000's of growers in every town and city. The guys making concentrates are doing better and better everyday day at making great stuff and its a art form and practice makes perfect. If you want to come to Cali you can and you can be successful here in the MMJ business. Be prepared to spend a bunch of cash getting setup and if I had to give just one single recommendation it would be to obtain great genetics and grow it over and over until you have it perfect. If you bring real impressive Fire AAA TOP shelf meds to the dispensaries you will get paid. Stay away from SoCal. Up here in Sacramento there is good meds but it is rare to find the quality you would find in LA and one great batch of meds might show up at 5 different dispensaries. Pick a great strain and run it and start working with it. A buddy just created a Wifi X Bubba and a unit sold out in 2 hrs. Now everyone in town that tried it or heard about is trying to get it. My buddy was just a normal grower with 60 plants harvesting about every 30 days and now he is getting huge offers to purchase his cut. Over night success. I want to get into new MMJ States. There is going to be a boom in those states and you want to
be there when it happens.

Dillinger, it seems you and I share an opinion. I told him that market would be harder to access than the one in Colorado; you just wrote out the reasons why it would be easier for a newcomer to get his foot in the door in Colorado than Cali.

All the reasons above save one make Colorado at least as wise a choice. This one makes it BETTER; in Colorado, it's LEGAL. That really makes it clear for people.

dont forget about the living in cali... its expensive, rent, electricity. the job market is suckin right now. the weather is gettin weird. its been hotter and hotter each year, this year we hit 115(damn ice caps :)) and not to mention the lovely fires. about 2 to 3 months outta the year you smell smoke. theres spare the air days..... (they tell you when its bad air quality, and to stay inside) traffic...... cali is just overpopulated, and mostly with rude people. homelessness is going up because of the job market. there is a layer of smug (smog) throughout the city. when im working in the boonies i can look back at my city and see a haze of brown. there is good though, but im sure if your moving there your more concerned with the bad. id try the "new" weed states. thats where were looking to re-locate.

You are 100% correct and even better would be a brand new state. Grab as much great Cali genetics as you can and be as close to the first in that state in a big city and if you have the fire you will not be able to control the $$$$ coming in.

Just be Damn careful you don't end up as a 'test case' in a newly legalized state. People forget that the cops totally ignored Colorado's AMENDMENT TO THE STATE CONSTITUTION for over seven years, until lawsuits forced them to back off of seizures and prosecution. Those battles are fought on a state by state basis, and will take their time in each.

Bingo, ttystick. The folks who start the "you don't know what it is like to grow and smoke in an illegal state" threads and aim them at Colorado (or Cali) growers are misinformed and are running around with stars in their eyes if they think all of this was merely handed to us and there weren't test cases/problems early on.

Folks need to remember that >sales< are a grey area in many states. You are legal to smoke and grow but that doesn't mean you have any legality for sales. Med states are certainly more in tune and more shit goes on....but don't be fooled into thinking that you can't face charges in Colorado "because it's legal". Legality has it's parameters and what most folks wanna do here (grow and sell for a living without taxation) is illegal damn near everywhere. On top of that, if it's a med state, yer weed is worth about 1//2 it's value where you are sitting now....if you can find a buyer for it at all. LOL.

but good luck... whatever you try to do. Anybody need a bag? :D

Just came back from seattle and imho that is were you wanna be a beautiful legal state with few breeders at the time and unless your able to pull of the AAA meds you gonna have few patients moving to a new state with little to no contacts and don't forget it takes money to make money .....jmho

If I remember right Subcool lives in Washington State. It`s been a few years sense we talked last though.

Yep subs up north
He's been doing a bunch of videos with farmer Jon. Anybody know if this is the same fj from the farm a few years back? A Buddy got some clones from him and 5/6 strains were straight fire

ur a day late and a dollar short wen it comes to movin to nor cal imho. they are getting rough out here and if u spend alot of money to get out here and set up out here then ull only have like 2 good years left before they really start regulating shit. and the prices will jus keep goin down ull b selling ur indoor aaa for under 2 gs soon and outdoors will b a g or less. there are tons of grows out here so honestly i would only consider moving here for a pot growing way of life get customers from where ur at and drive ur herb bak home to get the price u need to survive. u cant expect to survive out here sellin to dispensaries i learned tht when i moved out here from philly, i went broke for a few months till i found my stride. good luck son

Cali is the only state where private growers can "vend" there meds. I think thats why its the best med state.

I moved away from CA in March. I can speak of socal. You can still get good prices if you
are putting out quality but, costs on everything from real estate/rent to electricity make other
areas more attractive.

If you are not running 20+ lights or worried about plant #'s it would be hard to make a good living. I
miss it everyday but, I had a lot of concerns about what things are going to look like 10 years
down the road.

Stay away from Arcata since the added a grow tax to the electric company of a 45% increase on your bill if you go over the baseline by 600%. Also they limit the watts used to 1200. I believe Eureka is the same too.
