Welcome back!
Not much happening as we’re still in veg and none of the plants are showing sex yet. I think I’m pretty close to sexing, maybe within a week or two some will start showing.

I plucked off a bunch of rough looking leaves from minor soil/nutrient issues, so some of the plants are looking pretty sparse. I topped everyone today except for the recently planted breeder seeds.

I’ve noticed some of the crosses have really dense compact growth initially and then start to spread out more normally as they get older.

I have seen this occasionally over the years and I think I remember reading somewhere that a certain kind of soil mite can cause this kind of growth. That said, I’m pretty sure that it’s more likely to be a nutrient issue or a characteristic of the plant. I can’t say for sure regarding the latter because I only know the mothers of each plant, I do not know which male fertilized any given seed. I will go back in today and pay attention to which plants seem to display that growth to see if there is a common mother.

Does anyone have any ideas what would cause that kind of concentrated growth that the plant later outgrows?

Here are some individual updates.

The Sour TK started with four seeds, three popped, one stalled out in the cup, one grew fast but has some deformities (possibly soil related) and the third one is a little small but seems happy.

Here are two Chemdog 91. On the left some strange leaf growth and on the right a happy plant.

Finally, here is one of the LVTK x Longbottom Fighter. It topped itself and for some reason grew three branches from that self topping.

That’s all for now, happy growing!

I guess a wake and bake wasn’t the best idea before writing those lines.

I actually noticed this and commented on it in an earlier post. It is a trait of the LSD Poison.

Nothing new to report as far as progress but just did some inspecting for sex and counting to keep track before culling again. That will be mostly based on sex as most runts or overly weird growers have been removed.

Hoping they will show sex any day now so I can eliminate the males without wasting time and resources up-potting them. My plans outside the room have changed since starting this project which is affecting my plans in the room as far as available space for flowering.

That said, I’m not sure if I will just throw the females into 1 gallons and flower immediately as planned, or I may decide to veg them a little longer in 3 gallons and then flower. This was meant to be a test run, not going for yield so I will not be using my usual 5 gallon, mainly due to space restrictions. 3 gallons don’t save much space, so still leaning towards 1 gallons and 12/12 right away.
Also to consider, this may be my last indoor grow before the serious summer heat becomes an issue, so that’s got me leaning back towards bigger pots for bigger plants.
I know, first world problems!

Anyway, I will have to make a decision soon and will document which way I end up growing.

The numbers will only get smaller as I won’t be popping any more seeds for a while but I will be removing all males. That is, unless they are exceptional in some way, then I will likely finish them in the garage to collect pollen.

All of these plants are regulars so these numbers will change, but here they are for now:

Mine
Bubblegum crosses : 19
LSD Poison crosses : 17

Breeders
LVTK X Longbottom Fighter : 3
Chemdog 91 : 3
Sour TK : 2
