No straw, been reading up on outdoor cultivation.
going to set up wood based primary spawn in the back yard at the base of my apple trees.
Going to relocate Carmel caps next season from the coast for long term seasonal harvests.

If I get around to getting the azures going soon, after the first harvest I'd be happy to share a print or culture so you don't have to go through the effort of harvesting wild-caught. I'll drop you a DM whenever that happens, probably in the next few weeks.

I've only started researching mushroom so take with a grain of salt. Apparently you can still sterilise in a normal pot of boiling water with a lid. Just increase the boiling time to allow everything to come up to temperature. Good luck

For BRF sure, but not quart jars of grain. You can not sterilize those in a water bath.

Looks like its damn near impossible to get a replacement gasket for this ancient Mirro in Canada too. I need one, don't know how long it will take to get one from the US... faakk... i might end up having to get a whole new canner.

What's the gasket made of, can't you make one your self.

Haha that's where my mind went last night too. I dont think I can make it, it's a unique self sealing design. But what I am going to try is adding a coating of high heat silicone to it to make it fatter. So hopefully It seals up fully.

Looks like this

Here's to hoping... it is called gasket maker after all...

I'll let it sit like this and peel it off tonight. And yeah I used a release agent on the kettle lol.

Finally finished the entire thread. Looking to dip my toe. I have seen too many advertisements to count because the robots know. Can or I should say would anyone recommend any of the kits to grow a strain like the p-cube variety? Looking to "try" it out to see if I want to go all in, if that makes any sense. I have 12 ladies going into the garden soon.

I would start with PF jars.
They are the easiest way to get a feel for this hobby.
Spore syringes are cheap, typically $20, and you can basically order a small amount of what you need to succeed off Amazon.
You have to have a ton of patients for this to work. And cleanliness.
Good luck and success to you:)

As far as kits, overpriced and unreliable as far as I’m concerned
