Why are my buds so loose and have too many leaves? This is my 3rd grow and my buds are the biggest I have had so far, but they are very loose and they have a lot of leaves. I am growing outdoors. I started in January in Orange County, CA, so it's not the ideal grow season. However I would just like to see them tighten with fewer leaves. The coke can is for size perspective.

Cold roots = shrinkage, just ask George Costanza. The leafy strains get leafier in the cold too. They don't get as chunky in the winter but they do get as dank. I think you've got some time for her to put on some more weight and once you trim those sugars back at harvest, maybe you'll find its not so larfy on the inside as you thought after all.

If it’s a photo, it looks pretty much like what I would expect it to look like when it was started in January! Take a look at the thread about three down! The, did I put these out too soon, thread! A confused, reveging mess! šŸ» yours, and his plants are almost as alike as two peas in a pod!

Its either A: too much N
B; they started to flower and went back into veg and then flowered again
C: your leaving your porch light on at night sometimes or something.\

Probably a combo of all 3 maybe.

looks like a light cycle issue

Agreed Sun šŸŒž plus Mother Nature. Those bottom fans are not an issue might as well snip them.

Are your plants positioned for max sun?
Temperature swings, colder nights?
Have you ever started feeding for flower?
Have you considered selective pruning?

That’s what happens when you put a plant outdoors in January! Now you could keep growing it and it would probably completely reveg and you might have some real bud about three or four months from now! But there aren’t any real guarantees that that would work satisfactory! if you started a seed now and ran it through the summer you would be talking turkey!

Tend it, grow it out and forget about it. Chalk it up to experience.

Get those beans sprouted and look forward to autumn harvest after a wonderful SoCal growing season.

They are Autos. Does that make a difference?

Yeah, it makes a difference! I don’t know why they are wonking like that! Like an ass, I assumed they were photos! Auto’s kind of rules out any reveging! I don’t grow autos, so I don’t know if you can correct anything now or not! I suppose just let it grow and see what happens! That’s a gnarly looking auto! Hang in there! Maybe you’ll develop some more bud! And there is always a slight chance you got sent photo seeds labeled as autos! That has been known to happen! But it’s pretty rare nowadays! But banks like growers choice that don’t send you your stuff in the breeders packs, but instead load their own little delivery vessels, that’s when you can run into that! Maybe starting them under 11 hours of light and the cold temps of the winter just stunt them!

Yea, my fist grow was last summer, photos. I enjoyed it so much I wanted to keep growing. So, I planted autos in November to see what would happen. I got about an ounce total, out of 3 plants. The look really nice, but they were just small. It was fun and I am learning so it was worth the effort. I am in So Cal, so the weather never gets too bad. I harvested those in January and started 3 more, 2 Tropicana Cookes and one Tangerine Kush. I got the seeds from grower's choice. The spring plants are much bigger, more sun I assume. The one is the picture is Tropicana Cookies. The other two are maturing slower and look good. They are both about 30 inches are starting to bud, picture attached. I am starting 6 photos now for summer. I am just getting into this, but I am really enjoying learning the process. Not doing indoor yet. I tend to go overboard, so I am holding off until I get the outdoor growing down.

At this point Fox Farm Tiger Bloom and Big Bloom. Any suggestions on what to change to?

Use it right and it'll grow your plant right, no need for a change up. As a couple folks have pointed out you're kind of playing chicken with the photoperiod gods right now. Some saying it's revegging but to me it just looks like an indica dominant strain that exhibits a leafy bud structure. But you are in danger of revegging, by my estimation in around two weeks. To play it safe, I would suggest putting them to bed early in a nice dark spot with no light leaking in approximately one hour before the published sunset time starting now and no later than May 1. If you are flowering photos in the months of May thru July here in So Cal, you'll need to give them artificial dark. The "No Go" zone here in So Cal is around May 15 thru about August 1, when day lengths are longer than 14 hours. If you flip at the Solstice they're finished before longer days are an issue. But honestly, I think there's more favorable weather waiting for late January and pulling in April. Something to keep in mind everyone thinks it's that 12/12 schedule for flowering but a better reference is to think and know more along the lines that 12 hours is the definite trigger point for flowering and 14 hours is the definite trigger point for reveg, and while you are in between those light times things could go either way. The safest and easiest thing you can do is find a nice dark spot inside where you can bring them in at 7pm and then put them back out at 7am. I realize how much a PITA that is. It's why folks don't like to bother growing in the off season.

These are Autos, so shouldn't that prevent reveging?
