Hello everyone! My name is Lucas, nick GrowingDreams, I´m 36. And I´m here to share some of my experience being a medical user of marijuana in Brazil.

I hadn’t planted since 2017 due to the invasion of my house and the seizure of my plants by the Brazilian police. I wasn’t home at the time, but I presented myself at the police station, I wasn’t indicted in the drug trafficking case, but the district attorney filed charges, and I responded to a trafficking lawsuit. More than 5 years later, I was acquitted, as it was proven that the use was medicinal. Today, with judicial authorization, I was finally able to have peace to cultivate my medicine.

I was diagnosed with ADHD many years ago, and after seeing all kinds of doctors, my tremors, which I’ve had since I was a child and were supposedly essential tremors, were diagnosed as early-onset Parkinson’s. I need high CBD and high CBG, and I’m researching for strains in this line to restart.
I’ve been cultivating since 2009-2010. My last grow was hydroponic, using a 3280w LED and HPS mixed system in 2016. I didn’t need to grow for a long time after that, but by the end of 2017, I was starting again when my house was invaded, and my plants were seized.

But the bad phase is over, and today I am at peace, with judicial authorization after 7 years of legal struggle. I just want to maintain my perpetual cultivation to extract my oil and never run out again.

This was my last grow in 2016:

There are two relays/ contactors of 40 amps each, each connected to a Sonoff (Wi-Fi controller).
The power enters through the circuit breaker on the upper left side, then passes through the first contactor.
This functions as a main switch, turning everything on and off, including the air conditioner and the three outlets at the bottom where I plug in the timers for the pumps.
In addition, I took advantage of the fact that the first contactor had a free phase, so I ran 110v through it to power pumps that are not 220v.
After the first contactor, there’s a split for a circuit breaker for the air conditioner and a second contactor for the flowering lighting. This one is currently connected to a Wi-Fi controller, but I’ll add a timer after the controller to ensure reliability, as I don’t trust the timers on these controllers. If the Wi-Fi fails, it could cause delays, etc. I will only use it if I need to turn off the lighting for an emergency. (I’ve already installed cameras so I can see what’s going on with the plants when I’m not around).
This black and green power strip is the energy output for the lighting.
This timer on the right, next to the black and green power strip, will be placed between the Wi-Fi controller and the second contactor.
Everything was sized with plenty of headroom; this system could handle 32 amps in total, it wouldn’t reach 40 amps because the incoming circuit breaker is 32 amps. Completely overkill, I won’t even use a third of that. Haha.

For veg/clones and mothers, I´m using a 3ftx3ftx6ft growbox, with a 65w Quantum Board Led, and a homemade bubbler for propagation..

welcome to the farm brother, looks to me like you've got it going on!

sucks to hear about your legal woes. luckily though the world is coming to

it's senses and realizing that the us led war on drugs was a complete

and dismal failure. countless millions have suffered under those insane

policies. i too have had my share of legal trouble here in the us.

anyhow, happy growing and Happy New Year!

Hey brother, thank you! Happy New Year!

I’m really putting a lot of effort and research into this project. Since I can't afford imported hemp oils, I'm determined to grow with what we have available here. I also have a sense of urgency because the disease I have is degenerative, so I don't have time to waste.

There are a lot of homemade/DIY solutions in this current grow room, not just to lower costs, but also because we don’t have access to many good products, and the import and shipping costs have become almost impossible for us to afford.

(For context: my treatment with imported oil costs more than 3k dollars per month, including taxes, while the minimum wage in Brazil is around 230 dollars.)

Even with all the limitations and challenges, the cultivation is going well, and I hope that in this new year I won’t run out of oil anymore.

Thank you very much for the visit and the kind words, you're always welcome. :)

PEace!

I´ve used this 15 litters plastic boxes to make the Clonner/ Bubbler

1735746543675

Holes maked with a hole saw, laser cutter EVA discs.
1735746605216

After making the holes, I put 4 porous stones, using 2 compressors of 2 outs each. 3,5l/min per out.
(The older ones are getting "tanned" by the lights. Lol)

It´s simple, cheap and Works very well, 30 clones in less than 10 days, first roots 3-4 days after cutting.

1735746747645

IIt could hold easy 4x9 clones on the bigger tray, but I just vegging 27 today, plus 8 plants on the 2 smaller trays.

1735746817575

The entire growroom, with everything full turned on. energy consumption on 220v 11,8 amps.
A lot of overroom, the eletrical system holds 40 amps easy.

Update!

My growbox was pretty full, so I had to split the space. I used the metal frame from an old machine, painted it, and installed two tube LED lights for the bubbler. On the top, I put plastic trays for the rooted clones and seedlings.
1736388064450

I reused this metal frame from an old machine I had, painted it with truck bed paint, and put a soda cap on each leg to keep it from touching the water full of salts that drains from the pots.

That's all for today, see you soon!

Welcome to the Farm! Low budget or not you have a badass setup! see you around!✌️
Thanks brother!
I have no complaints about this setup, but in the long run, the amount of electricity I’ve been using ends up costing much more than upgrading to LEDs.

Brazil is a tropical country, and the temperature where I live rarely goes below 25°C/77°F. With HPS lamps emitting heat into the environment, the air conditioning works a lot.

As soon as possible ($$), I’ll start the replacement. We are in a rather difficult time because our currency is quite devalued against the Dollar, so everything is very expensive here, not to mention import taxes, which range between 60% and 100%, plus shipping. Even with these obstacles, the LEDs would pay for themselves in less than 24 months, considering the difference in the electricity bill.

See you soon, tks ! ✌
Welcome!! Can't wait to see the production in your awesome hydro set up!! Its been a few years since I had the 600hps lights up and running!! 👊🏼

Thanks brother, I am working with the tools I have, and I’m very happy to be able to grow marijuana (legally) again after years of concerns and repression.

600w is nice, despite the enormous amount of heat it dissipates into the room.
As I mentioned above, asap, I will start the switch to LEDs. 💪

See you soon, !

Hey brother you could build some led chips looks like you are electric savvy and have common sense so it would be pretty simple for you to buy some quality led, or quantum boards and throw it together . There are some great diy forms and guides for doing it I can find some and send them to you if you are interested! Other than that looks like you have everything set up great!!! Are you running recirculating system for the hydro or flood to height and drain? It looks like flood to height then drain but not sure I don’t see a res?

Hey bro, thanks for the tips. If you could suggest some good cost-effective solutions, I'd be super grateful. I've actually thought about building panels myself and even bought some chips with integrated drivers (drive-on-board), but the cost of heatsinks here is really high, and it ends up being almost the same as buying a ready-made panel from a decent Chinese brand (YuXiNou, etc.).

I ended up giving up on building them, but I know there are better LEDs now (301h evo, etc.) for building a panel. I’ve looked into 301h LED bars without heatsinks to build something here with an aluminum frame, and it seems feasible too. What would you suggest?

About the hydro system, it’s an Ebb n Flow, with recirculation, a 300-liter reservoir, and 4 daily floods of 15 minutes each.
It´s a little hidden, but you can see it here on right side, the big black round lid...

I was thinking a lot about why my plants still look stressed, even with all the conditions set to perfection (perfect VPD, A/C for three times the amount of heat I’m currently dealing with, CO2 at 1250 ppm, plenty of light, extreme temperature stability, and good nutrients with very strict pH and PPM control).

I found the reason today. I have three pH meters, and all of them were contaminated, showing values much higher than the actual ones, even after calibration.

My soil pH was 4.5! And in hydro, the meters were showing 5.7 instead of 4.7. These cheap, old Chinese pH meters almost ruined my entire crop, including mothers and clones. I now have a brand new one that I calibrate before each use and check again before each reading.

Better safe than sorry. Lol

Everything seems fine now, but I’ll be checking everything every day.

See you soon...

Updating again, pH issues solved, and everything starting to get back to normal after a lot of stress. Calibrating the meter has now become a must for every reading, you really can't trust it otherwise.

The pH issues in the hydroponics have improved, and they’re already showing new leaves in the normal happy plant position, plus the growth has restarted, phew!

pH and EC checked 10 times with calibrated meters and everything running steadily. I believe that by keeping cautious monitoring, I won’t have any more problems. From now on, I’ll always treat the meters with suspicion. Haha!

Great stuff man! Sorry just seen you responded to me. I will send a message back once I get a second!
Thanks, bro. Answer when you can. :)

Some more updates! For now, I have 14 more pots with plants in inert soil to complement the hydroponics. I haven’t decided yet if I will flower these potted outdoor plants, but I’m very tempted to do so.
1740606597209

I did a good cleanup here and calculated the doses for all the products so I don’t have to keep doing the math all the time. I labeled all the containers properly, and little by little, I’m standardizing everything. LOL
1740606638751

I set up a system to reuse the drain water from the air conditioner. It’s a 50-liter tank with a UV light inside that stores the drain water for later use. I also added an overflow pipe to prevent any spilling issues.
1740606679070

The electrical panel now has an additional thermostat that shuts off the main contactor if the temperature exceeds 30 degrees (a sign that the AC has stopped). I also added a smart infrared controller to adjust the air conditioner and humidifier remotely.
1740606714872

I’ve completely abandoned chlorine and hydrogen peroxide and am giving beneficial microorganisms a chance.

It’s been working—almost zero dirt in the reservoir.
1740606756847

I also had to make some changes to the ventilation. Now the grow has both air intake and exhaust. It stays sealed most of the time, but during the dark phase and for an hour in the middle of the light phase, the exhaust fan runs to exchange the air. Keeping it fully sealed all the time accumulates too many fungal spores and other particles in the air, so it’s better to prevent that with a few hours of daily exhaust. But I’m still using CO₂ at 1250 ppm in the room.
1740606807554

The way to go here was to install an exhaust vent with an automatic shutter on the door. LOL

That´s all for today! Tks folks!
